that will potentially increase illegal immigration

Like it or not illegal immigration is actually good for business. It means more output, lower prices, and room for more man hours else where.

@markust: I grew up in San Diego and I have a completely different perspective from Gerry on this.

I give Gerry a pass. He lives in San Diego which is basically a border town.

@FoolsPrussia I guess basically my issue is that I don't really think we need legislation that will potentially increase illegal immigration. This isn't an easy issue to solve, which is why I disagree with this legislation not being discussed or voted on by congress.

@FoolsPrussia No reasonable person is suggesting we kick ALL of them out. I honestly don't know a good solution to the problem. My problem with this piece of legislation is that, kids or not, it creates a loophole for illegal immigration. Sure, I don't want to punish kids that didn't really have any choice in the matter, and I don't think that we should, but I think we should approach the problem in a different way than granting outright immunity for every case.

'I think Gerry's comments sum up pretty nicely what people's problems with it are.'

And I understand that, but it's not fair to punish their kids like we've been doing. Also, the whole situation is kind of a Catch 22. Imagine if we deported all illegals. Food prices would go insanely high. That wouldn't just harm you and me personally; that would harm the whole economy. It's not feasible to just kick everyone out.

"All day long they hear the same talking points until they are burned into their heads. opinion media turns people into angry parrots. "

"And he did it with love and tolerance."

There's another one. I don't understand why you worship and praise Obama so much. He's a sleazy politician. He probably doesn't even understand things like 'love'. All I want is for us as Americans to hold our 'highest office' up to higher standards. We've allowed our past 2 presidents to get away with some pretty heavy lying, and people like you seem intent on letting it happen over and over again.

No one is saying they aren't nice people. I think Gerry's comments sum up pretty nicely what people's problems with it are. Around where I live most of the illegal immigrants open up Mexican restaurants or work some kind of physical job, so it doesn't really bother me. However, I'm sure if one of their 'neighborhoods' popped up next to where I live, my opinion might change. This might not be true for all areas, but where I live, they live in this area with a few trailers and A LOT of illegal immigrants.

'Also when you live in a border state like I do and see first hand all of the illegals, you get a little tired of it. People that are so far removed from the situation, have no clue.'

I live in Los Angeles and I grew up in San Diego. My Mom is an ESL teacher, and I spent lots of time around immigrants because of it. They're almost all good people looking for help. Would you do any different if you lived in absolute poverty? It's the survival instinct.

HolyGod - I do blame corporations for their part in this. And the politicians. But I still don't think blanket amnesty to thousands of illegals will help the situation.

Department official I heard on the radio today, "just as the President can set high priorities, he can set low priorities."

Ditto, you can't catch'em all. Some crimes are more serious than others. Others the effort involved is far too impractical. Take for example the $102 million Medicare fraud program which only nets $20 million.

It should be noted that anybody who calls something and "end run" is implicitly acknowledging that it's legal.

What the President did was instructed the Justice Department to not actively pursue deportation of a certain group of people in favor of working on more important things (they have a huge backlog of other deportations). To quote a Justice Department official I heard on the radio today, "just as the President can set high priorities, he can set low priorities."

Eddy: If you think Fox News doesn't have a weekly list of talking points sent from HQ, you're in denial. Not only is it obvious, it's been documented.

I've seen first hand how messed up the immigration system is, and how hard it is to legally immigrate or even get legal permission to work here.

That's because we have an immigration policy that basically says if you're white- or yellow-skinned and well-educated, go to the back of the line and wait; however, if you're brown-skinned and illiterate, HEY, THE BACK DOOR'S WIDE OPEN! STEP RIGHT UP AND COME ON IN!!!

@HolyGod I agree with you, but I also agree with Gerry. I've seen first hand how messed up the immigration system is, and how hard it is to legally immigrate or even get legal permission to work here. However, I don't think this is the right legislation. Sure, it provides a solution to the problem, but that doesn't mean it's a good idea. This legislation is almost putting a loophole in the law. That just doesn't sit well with me. Also, I don't care if this is legal for Obama to do or not, I feel like it's the job for congress. If Obama had every right to do this, then I don't blame him, I blame the system. This shouldn't be the president's business.

"I've seen such repeated extreme right talking points from him that I accused him of being paid by the RNC. Ever since he has been Trolling me. I have noticed that he has calmed down with his comments though. Maybe the RNC fired him."

What points are these? Also, there's another hypocritical and ironic comment. I've lost track but I think that's what your 7th? Also, I'm glad you think that just because I have a differing opinion than you, that I'm paid to have this opinion. That's real mature of you. Who's the slave to partisan politics and opinion media, again? The guy who worships Obama and attacks anyone who says anything negative about him? Oh, no, you're right it's me. I guess I should just recall my support for gay marriage and gay rights, healthcare reform, and other liberal-leaning social policies, because apparently, in Markust's little world, being involved in partisan politics and being brainwashed by 'opinion media' simply means having one conservative op

Kids that are brought into this country have no control over it. Their parents bring them in and they grow up learning english and living in america. I have friends that have this problem and they need the dream act. without it they are sent back to a country where they don't speak the language and have nothing.

@jamie76, No, I didn't say the same things about Bush, because he was a completely different kind of f***up. He did plenty of stuff that totally sucked dead donkey dicks: NCLB, steel tarriffs, prescription drugs, McCain-Feingold, and TARP, to name just the highlights, and his chicken$#!+ refusal to pardon Scooter Libby was a national disgrace.

So, now that I've proven you wrong, I don't suppose there's any chance that you'll go away and not come back, is there? Trust me, you wouldn't be missed by anyone, even the lefties. You're nothing but an insignificant little turd.

Blame the people turning American businesses into sweatshops for undocumented labor, not the poor people being exploited.

' I can understand why you'd think that. But when you've had your job taken by these people you'd probably be sining the same tune. So no, I'm not a big fan of rewarding people that damange the economy and society.'

I've had my job taken away by outsourcing before. I'm almost 29 and I've been laid off 3 times. The economy sucks sometimes. That doesn't mean I hate Indians. They, just like Mexican immigrants, are just looking for work to help themselves and their family. Can you blame them? At the least, don't punish their kids who had nothing to do with it.

Anyway, right now immigration from Mexico is basically dead. We're actually losing more people back to Mexico than are coming here.
