Friday, June 15, 2012 7:05:35 PM Skypirate is right. Pork rinds are believe-it-or-not healthier for you than a lot of other snacks because they have much needed animal fats and no sugars to make you fat and spike your blood sugar. As long as you can get past the gross factor and provided they aren't doused in MSG and other "spices". |

Friday, June 15, 2012 1:24:56 PM @intrigid: A carb is an informal unit, either relating to one net gram of carbohydrate (i.e. grams of carbohydrate minus grams of fibre), or to 15 grams of carbohydrates in the case of diabetics, relating to how much carbohydrate on average is utilized by one unit of insulin. Basically, while not an official unit, for convenience and informal usage the term 'carb' is valid. |

Friday, June 15, 2012 12:00:09 PM Well, speaking of one carb can make sense. For example:
When it comes to food, though, speaking in terms of the number of molecules in it isn't a very useful way of measuring. |

Friday, June 15, 2012 11:01:37 AM I had some microwave pork rinds once. It was like someone sprayed mace in the house. Everyone ran outside. |

Friday, June 15, 2012 10:45:22 AM Again, "carb" is NOT a unit of measurement any more than "water" is a unit of measurement. You need to add a unit of measurement to quantify the word. You need to, for example, say "one gram of carbs" or "one milliliter of water" to avoid looking foolish. |

Friday, June 15, 2012 10:42:53 AM @Calderis Do you understand that "carbohydrate" is one of the three basic types of food calories, along with "fat" and "protein"? Do you understand that all three words are, therefore, correctly used in the same way? Considering the following: "The bowl of soup contains one carb." "The bowl of soup contains one fat." "The bowl of soup contains one protein." If 1/3 of those sentences seems right to you, please educate yourself. If 3/3 of the sentences seem right to you, please ban yourself from having an opinion on the internet. |

Friday, June 15, 2012 10:07:11 AM All pork rinds are a low carbohydrate food. They are mostly lipids and proteins because they are just fried pork skin. Low carb, but incredibly high fat. |

Friday, June 15, 2012 9:44:41 AM @Intrigid, A Carb is a single unit of a system of measurement. It's the reason Carbohydrates is plural. |
