Thursday, June 14, 2012 9:03:27 PM "Ho, ho, ho! Well, if it isn't fat stinking billy goat Billy Boy in poison! How art thou, thou globby bottle of cheap, stinking chip oil? Come and get one in the yarbles, if ya have any yarbles, you eunuch jelly thou!" Of course that was a different scene than the one depicted. |

Wednesday, June 13, 2012 9:18:20 PM I read the book back when I was in university...very good, disturbing and unsettling, but still a powerful read. Saw the movie a few years after, was not disappointed. Kubrick was a real master moviemaker. |

Wednesday, June 13, 2012 8:38:21 PM Pooptart19 Thanks for sharing that great tidbit. Clockwork Orange was made forty years ago and it STILL feels ahead of it's time. Anybody who likes the movie should check out the Anthony Burgess novel. |

Wednesday, June 13, 2012 8:01:55 PM According to Malcolm McDowell, the script had Alex and his droogs just kick the poor guy down the stairs and then throw bottles of booze through his windows. McDowell told Kubrick that that was sort of pathetic. They waited around a few days trying to figure what to do with the scene when Kubrick walks past McDowell and asks him if he could dance. McDowell jumped up, started singing "Singin' In the Rain" and improvised what would become the famous rape scene (bouncing the ball, slapping the woman, etc.). Kubrick then immediately bought the rights to the song and used it in the film. Nobody asked but whatever.

Wednesday, June 13, 2012 7:31:15 PM I JUST watched that movie for the first time yesterday after getting completely toasted on a 4 foot bong. Needless to say, my mind was blown in more ways than one. Loved this movie. Apparently the singing in the rain bit was improv. He was supposed to say/sing something else. Brilliant move. |
