Friday, June 15, 2012 5:27:08 PM My healthcare is just fine, and no waiting! Poohole eh? I'm looking out my balcony at a beautiful sunset amongst the palm trees and tidal inlet. Tomorrow I'll go to the beach and see young girls in bikinis... no flannel, no dead whales. Don't hate the player, hate the game.

Thursday, June 14, 2012 3:21:58 AM @not a bear: That may well be, but they aren't actually threatened any more. I think we agree on the "let's not have that discussion" part.. |

Says the obvious bigot...sorry but there is no other terms for you after saying what you did about Americans. and right now you are thinking of a million ways you could answer me and justify your statement, they may sound like this, "But Americans blah blah blah" bigots always try to justfy their statements. here is a hint, this is an American run site, you don't like Americans, so stay off the site and while you are at it the Internet, because hey, you don't want to be using something us horrible "mericans" invented right? |

Wednesday, June 13, 2012 6:30:57 PM @ Kain1 again Perhaps they're not threatened according to the laws of your country, but here humpbacks are listed as "vulnerable" and "protected" under both the NSW Threatened Species Conervation Act (1995) and the Commonwealth Environmental Protection & Biodiversity Conservation Act (1999). |

Wednesday, June 13, 2012 6:21:01 PM @ Kain1 Click on the picture and have a read of the article. Apparently the whale died due to entanglement in fishing gear; not exactly natural causes. Obviously I'm not saying that those slaughtered farm animals died of natural causes, but people always respond in a larger way to big charismatic species like whales and dolphins. I could discuss the flaws in that logic all day but I'd only end up boring everyone but me. The point is, to most people whales > cows/pigs. |

Wednesday, June 13, 2012 6:15:32 PM @TKD_Master Mounting is a nick name for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). Which is our federal police. The "Mounted" is from when they used to ride horses, and they still do sometimes. The people in the pics dont look like Mounties tho.. |

Wednesday, June 13, 2012 6:11:02 PM A few years ago I was working with the National Parks and Wildlife Service and helped remove a dead humpback calf from a beach. It had been dead a while before it washed up so it wasn't in the best shape; almost no skin and a whole lot of big bite marks out of the blubber. Oh, and he had no head... Anyway, some guy had cut out a rib by the time we got there and he was carrying it up the beach on his shoulder like Arnie in that opening scene from Commando. He put it back when a ranger pointed out the severity of fines issued for interfering with a threatened species, and that the laws apply whether the animal is alive or dead. I reckon after 2 hours+ (or so claimed) of climbing inside a whale carcass wearing nothing but a pair of shorts and cutting out a rib with a hacksaw he kinda deserved to keep it... |
