Actually, drawman, studies show fish can feel (it was simply putting some kind of irritant on their lips and watching as they rubbed their faces everywhere trying to stop the itch). You're still stupid as hell, though. |

Their spikes are only spikes, not hypodermic needle-style. They don't inject poison, the poison is in their organs. So although it could have given him a nasty poke, he was in no danger unless he ate the thing.
Actually it was the puffer that was in more danger, they risk death every time they puff up. |

The puffer/fugu are prepared by the specialized, licensed chefs. If the fish is not prepped correctly it is fataly poisonus when ingested.
They can be handled safely, like a hedgehog or a porcupine of the sea. Puffing is the defense against the predator. |
