Thonious... I may be wrong, but they said it had to do with de-oxygenated blood. I imagine a severed hand wouldn't have much left. |

There are already several biometric ID systems out there now -- finger prints, hand geometry, retina scans, etc. -- now there's another. *Yawn...* |

I know the fingerprints and eyes would be different, so I would say yes to the veins being different, but it's a guess. |

They don't work if the tissue is no longer connected to a beating heart (dead or severed). My office building has one of these, but I don't have clearance for it. |

you know in some countries it is already taken off, just not in usa. Main thing is because of people thinking it is like government controlling everything. It is a sense of freedom and privacy but people are starting to get more into technology nowadays so those techs which were before seen as invasion of privacy is now seens as a cool new way of doing stuff. |

If you think about it though Darkmagic, this relies on the blood flowing back toward your heart in your palms.... so a severed hand most likely wouldnt have the blood in it for very long, therefore rendering a severed hand useless |
