Friday, June 08, 2012 7:41:33 AM Really LordJim? I felt that the knight was a metaphoric representation of entry-level labourers forced to carry out the worst tasks in order to create large profits for those at the top of the capitalist hierarchy such as the King. The simplistic dialogue is symbolic of the limited control that workers have over their work load. The dragon of course does hint at something darker and more complex though I suspect this was left open so the studio could later do a gritty reboot showing that the dragon was not truly a villain but rather a misunderstood social outcast. |

Friday, June 08, 2012 3:33:44 AM I didn't feel that the knight character had any depth or self-awareness. The dialogue was too expository and while underlying symbolism hinted at something darker and more complex this was never explored. |

Thursday, June 07, 2012 2:38:52 PM They don't actually say that he spelled the words that way. Just like he didn't do the drawings. It says exactly that. "All original pictures and temporary spelling by Scotty" |

Thursday, June 07, 2012 2:16:36 PM I have a seven year old son. I have a hard time believing that a child who is smart enough to maintain a coherent storyline with a beginning, middle, and ending that comes back to the original premise in the beginning is not smart enough to spell extremely common words that my four year old can spell (every baby learns from Dr. Seuss that "king" begins with "K" before they can read themselves. They memorize the story and recognize the word by sight before reading by sound) - so if the kid really wrote the whole story by himself, he should also be a better speller than this. My son spells much much better than this, but can't put together a complete narrative with this much coherence with the introduction and conclusion. So I'm calling B.S. |

Thursday, June 07, 2012 2:03:17 PM @McGovern - Take it as you will, but I know kids in my sons class could spell better than that at that age. |

Thursday, June 07, 2012 11:33:56 AM That kid didn't write this. It was his older brother the football-playing literary genius from the other day that wrote it, and he just drew the pictures. |
