Saturday, June 09, 2012 7:28:33 PM Fluor, I couldn't agree more. My ex and I took our mom's to Paris. After a day trip to Giverny and Normandy we spent the night on Mont Saint Michel. It was a wonderful experience. It felt like being in a story book. Waking up to the the tour buses was a bit of a shock. |

Saturday, June 09, 2012 1:41:20 PM markust123 Well said! I've never been to Paris and will never be able to afford a visit, but I know your observations are on the mark. |

Saturday, June 09, 2012 1:31:08 PM @markust123 thanks for the tips. that's what I was going to do. A "Bonjour" "Comment t allez-vous" and proceed from there with a "Merci" and smile at the end. That's about all the French I have besides 'Parlez vou Englaise?" and "Jem a'pelle Lauri". |

Saturday, June 09, 2012 10:22:24 AM Here are the simple things to do to have an enjoyable trip to Paris. Make an attempt at dressing up. The French are very fashionable. A simple black shirt, khakis, black belt and black shoes will go a long way. Learn the basics of their language, Yes. No, Hello. Goodbye. Good morning. Good day. Good evening. I would like... Where is the... How do you say... That's it. There is no reason to be the ugly American. If you take your wife to Paris and follow these simple steps you will improve your marriage ten fold. The city is so romantic. |

Saturday, June 09, 2012 10:10:55 AM Paris is one of my absolute favorite cities. I've been there 7 or 8 times. I would love to move there for a year or two. And no the French are not rude, it is the American's and the English who are the rude ones. When talking with the French you have to go through the formalities first. "Good morning." "How are you?" Things like that but in French. Then you ask your question in English. But the ugly American walks up and says in a loud voice, "Where's the bathroom!" Not even making an attempt to speak French or to add the simple formalities. The French at that point just come down to the rude persons level. |
