Took some poor bugger hours to ink that.

@ ggolbez & DShepard

When asked by the lady operating the laser the inked up fella said he was going to get the area covered up. Sounds like he just wasn't too keen on those particular tattoos so he's having them replaced/altered.

Because nowadays tattoos are getting less popular.
Tattoos are in general not the best idea, and people are getting that idea more and more.

There are a billion examples of bad tattoo's on this website, why is it the one GOOD tattoo we see he's getting it removed?

TheGuySmiley: Those laser tattoo removal machines cost ten's of thousands of dollars and I'm betting it uses a cryogenic gas to amplify the intensity, so they aren't cheap to maintain either. Add to that licensing and training costs and it's quite a lot of upfront cost just to open up a laser tattoo removal clinic let alone make a profit.

there's no reason that should cost more than the tattoo did.

If it does, you know it's all about the love for money, which sucks.

Or it's about the cost of the equipment, which is a lot.

Have to say, from the laser treatments I've witnessed before, this one did a fast and clear job. New type of laser?

I was interested, so I read up on it a bit. More a development of an existing type than a new type, really. People have been experimenting with wavelength, pulse strength and pulse duration to get the best results. Black (or nearly black) tattoo ink like the man has in this video is the easiest to remove, apparently, because it'll absorb a wide variety of wavelengths very well.

Looks painful!
idk how it works, the light causes the ink to burn up?

Burn up or break up as a result of nearby ink burning up. You end up with smashed-up remnants of the ink, broken down into different chemicals, which your body gets rid of. Most of it very quickly (blood really shifts) and more over a bit of time. It's painful and it causes some damage, usually temporary.

Other than small elements that might have had a Nazi / White Power connotation, such as the small Iron Cross (which I wouldn't have noticed in amongst a larger design), I prefer how his arm looked before the removal.

Pick your designs, never pick one off the wall. Wait a year, if you still like it, go ahead. No girlfriend/boyfriend names. Saves you a lot of time and grief.

Great, now instead of tattoo's he has arms that look like the leg of a 90-yr old woman with varicose veins.

It'll fade over a few weeks and he'll probably have more treatments. Check out a decent website on laser tattoo removal - you should be able to find photos of the same area over time, from start to finish. It's not an instant removal, not entirely.

So if sunlight can cause skin cancer, what do you think gamma radiation would cause? I know that is not really gamma, but the amount of energy being released is crazy, just listen to it.

I hardly know where to start...

If you know it's not gamma radiation, why did you mention gamma radiation and strongly imply it was gamma radiation?

The majority of the noise is a pump and air hose, i.e. nothing to do with the laser.

You have no idea how much energy is being released or what kind of energy it is. The only forms of energy that you know are in play are sound and visible light, apparently white but possibly just bright enough to overload the camera and appear white.

You have no evidence that UV is involved.
You have no evidence that gamma radiation is involved.
You have no evidence of how much energy is involved.

Your statement contradicts itself and has no support. It's meaningless.

Not nearly as costly as i would have thought. From their website " $49 per square inch per treatment or less depending on the size of the tattoo, with a $75 per visit minimum. Consultations are free."

Full sleeve will cost a pretty penny, but people who stupidly got band names/logos could get it removed for about as much as they paid to have it inked.

I cringed at the wrist part. I have a tattoo there, and it hurt like a sonofabitch.

What a waste of money.

Why spend all that money on a detailed tattoo, only to spend 5 times on its removal?

Tattoo lasers use non-ionizing radiation. The only thing they cause is burns.
