Its funny how so many of these "lists" exist...yet no one I encounter in my daily life embodies even one of these qualities. We read these lists passively and think "wow! i'd be a much better person if I started to do X!" but in reality...nah son. You are still the same terrible person.

sorry this doesn't work in the least. everyone is different and what is okay for you may not at all be okay for me. treat others the way THEY want to be treated.
also, 1. marrying the right person...
it is amazing that it is that simple...here is what I suiggest, if your marriage is having issue, pick up John Gottman's book and attend a therapy group based on his work. he is the leading researcher in the world on marriage/relationships and his work is all based on scientific studies, not self-help BS like Dr. Grey (venus/mars)).
