EgalM: I believe this will stay open if not indefinitely, at least a longer time because it's punched out of the cartilage in the ear. It's true that when on has a hole in the earlobe it will close rather quickly if not held open, but in the cartilage, both the cartilage and the skin have to grow close which would be a lot more difficult for your body to manage. link
^that says that in some people, it can heal up entirely again. but most don't. (cool?) (Yay research! Aka google.) |

I was told that you had to keep something in your ear hole to keep the hole from closing up. I heard that about normal piercing, so how do they expect this to last? Keep getting it punched out? |

I was set straight about such things at a young age.
When I was twelve, the 'cool' thing (i.e. stupid thing) was for guys to get an earring.
I asked my father, 'Can I get an earring?'.
My father, who was not a violent man, simply said, 'Son, if need another hole in your head, I'LL put it there.'
I believed him.
When I was old enough to make my own decisions, I realized a) my father was correct & b) he kept me from looking like an idiot just because 'it was cool'. |
