Really? You knew the Sex Pistols that well did you despite the fact that you were maybe not even born then. If you watched the video they talked about British people being f**ked by the establishment and that's the point, not that they were kept from no. 1. You are right that the monarchy has no relevance to the majority of British people, but most don't get it.

A couple of mates came round earlier today so i turned off Gran Turismo and made a brew (To be social - they have no interest in console games).
Turned on the TV and the local news was reporting from around our region (North Lincolnshire and The Humber) on the Jubilee celebrations.
None of us(no one we know to be honest)has much of an opinion of The Royal Family.
On the whole we're not Anti-Royal or Pro-Monarchy.
It's just that we never think about them. They never enter our stream of conciousness. So we're sat watching the street parties and laughing at the revellers; bedecked head to toe as they are in the Union Flag and it's like watching an alien invasion. None of us can understand their enthusiasm for celebrating and toasting someone they don't know.

@burbclaver - They banned OFFICIAL anti-monarchy parties.
To set the scene, people could apply to have official parties either in the streets or in a private building somewhere. These parties were made public.
Now to refuse someone an official party because they wanted to stage an anti-monarchy protest seems pretty fine to me. There's nothing stopping them hiring a hall and organising their own get together on the unoffical like. |

Anybody who watches this can see the power that the British establishment has in silencing voices of dissent. In the 70s they rigged the singles charts so the Pistols were not No.1 during the Jubilee. For the recent royal wedding they banned anti-monarchy parties. McGovern is a troll, but I agree with the sentiments. |
