In the interest of science I have determined that its more to do with buzzwords rather than nationality. Most politically correct people wouldn't just post a picture of an 'asian', instead it'll be 'here is Hiro from Japan'. So african is safe while ebony is not.
It also works for other categories, I don't recommend any children looking up their grannies. However I think hairy is the most amusing mash-up...

I think this is less due to race and more to do with the fact that "asian" can be a description of one's appearance while the others are more to do with nationalities. This would probably be true of other words that describe what people look like more than anything else. Ok, I regret using "chubby" as a test to my hypothesis.... |
