Saturday, June 02, 2012 7:35:50 AM @burritosb Learn your history, buddy. The United States was ill prepared for war because of the isolationist mentality of the government at the time. However, in '38, FDR advocated to his military advisers that he wanted 10,000 military aircraft ready by '40. In '40 he sent 50 overage destroyers to Britain. Also in '40, the Selective Service Act was passed and the US began drafting and training troops. Then, in early '41, FDR got Congress to pass the "Lend-Lease Act" which sent arms to Russia and Britain with no repayment needed. It wasn't until December of '41 that Japan attacked and then Germany declared war on the US. The attack on Pearl Harbor just pissed off the country and made it possible for FDR to do what he wanted to do from the start. Had those things not happened, Europe would have fallen to Hitler. Quite frankly, if this happened today, people would say it was a conspiracy created by FDR to get involved in the war (September 11th anyone? |

Saturday, June 02, 2012 2:43:09 AM @imnakdjumpme Nah, the Second Sino-Japanese War was a war inside a war. Warception. Or something. @burritosb Quite. The U.S only declared war on the 3rd Reich because Hitler declared war on the U.S. |

Friday, June 01, 2012 6:45:46 PM @turdburglar "But left out the part where America jumps in like a @ss kicking rock star and saves the day." You're kidding me right? WW2 started in 1939 and America didn't bother to 'jump in' until 1941 and that's only because of the attack at Pearl Harbour. |

Friday, June 01, 2012 3:44:15 PM i think the Chinese would consider the war to have started when they got invaded in 1937, but i guess we dont count it as a "world war" until germany started their invasion in 1939. |

Friday, June 01, 2012 3:06:30 PM @imnakdjumpme The Rape of Nanking was almost two years before the Second World War began, so I'd let him off not including it in his summary. |
