It was done because they needed a token gay character since they've changed the timeline and there's no longer a gay son to use. But good for you for always thinking the best of people! |

Say that after you have stood in the Sistine Chapel looking up at what a master artist (who happened to be gay) painted. I guess the gay Leonardo da Vinci was not very inspiring either. Or to bring it back to this century how about Freddy Mercury? He was pretty damn inspiring. At least two of his songs get played at pretty much every sports event. How about the lesbian Justin Bieber? She is loved by millions. |

Not really thatjimguy, just because gay people become more visible due to societal acceptance does not mean there are more of them. If it was the influence of media that 'made' gay people then there would not have been gays when being gay was punishable by a long and painful death, we know there were- but many,many kept very quiet indeed.

@madduck Yes, it is being more accepted, but there is SO much media out there that we will find out quite quickly if people are truly born that way or if it is the influence of media plays a part. I guess we will see by the next generation. |

Except this isn't Hal Jordan, the guy almost everyone thinks of as GL. It's Alan Scott on "Earth 2."
So he's not really THE Green Lantern suddenly turning coming out as gay, he's simply A Green Lantern that happens to be gay. Not nearly as controversial as I was hoping. |

Being gay is finally starting to gain acceptance as normal and natural, so it is essential that some characters in all media and fiction are seen as gay. Gay kids need to see they are normal- and have heroes and characters to inspire them. This is a good thing- and if it is an agenda it is a good one. Not long ago a female superheroe would have been shocking, this is just the same. |

First the movie and now this. I'm not against gays at all but I don't really see how this will help GL at all. This just seems like its being forced on us so then DC can go "Hooray, we aren't gay bashers, see we have a gay character...just like marvel!" Seems like my child hood favorite super hero is slowing being destroyed. |

You know, I could care less about gay marriage, but I really get sick of the various media pushing it so much. I doubt anyone could say this was done for nothing more than politics and influence more than story lines and character development. For crying out loud everything is gay now. You can't argue against people who talk of a "gay agenda" when it looks very much as if there is one. |
