Friday, June 01, 2012 8:18:39 AM It's the spam factor that makes me hate Groupon. They make it very easy for selfish arseholes to volunteer your e-mail address to them on the promise of some crappy discount for items no-one wants or needs, but make it deliberately difficult to get off their mailing list once some twat has put you on it without your permission. LinkedIn works on the exact same premise of making it easy for someone else to sign you up, and nigh-on impossible for you to get them to stop spamming you with 'reminders' to invitations you 'forgot' to accept. They're the modern-day equivalent of a chain letter / pyramid scheme. |

Friday, June 01, 2012 8:06:42 AM Apparently there's a new show on ABC or one of those networks this fall that features two guys moving to California after getting jobs with Groupon. I think one of them is that McLovin' kid. |

Friday, June 01, 2012 7:46:41 AM As a business owner, I agree that Groupon is a crap company. They are preying on small businesses that should know better. While you are working your ass off filling orders for customers who will never return once the deal is over, your real customers will be ignored and go away. Yes, if you own a bus company and have a bus going to a destination half empty, Groupon makes sense. Otherwise not. As a customer, many of the deals have fictitious savings, with "$200 value" put on something that has never been sold for $200 ever. On a final note, Groupon has a massive, invisible, outstanding debt of unfilled details that will one day bring the company down. |

Friday, June 01, 2012 7:09:09 AM Fairly certain it was just being funny... Poster must have missed that, because it was a better joke than most of the nonsense that gets posted on here. |

Thursday, May 31, 2012 4:35:37 PM Groupon always struck me as one of those Really Bad Ideas that was obviously unwise, despite being popular; like 99.99% of companies that were set up during the dot com bubble, or buying Facebook shares. If I want a quality product or service, the last place I'm going to go for it is a supplier that's already unmotivated owing to their losing money on the deal by having to both discount the price and then split any revenue coming from the customer with a middle-man (that doesn't also share in their costs for providing the product/service). I don't have any friends that would be stupid enough to hand my e-mail address to spam-your-friends outfits like Groupon or LinkedIn, but if I did they'd find themselves dumped quicker than you could say "Data Protection Act". |

Thursday, May 31, 2012 4:20:27 PM groupon is a horrible company. here is my rant about them since you asked and why a business should NEVER use them (I know from personal experience how bad they are for business). 1. they attract BARGIN HUNGTERS not real customer...in other words, these customers have NO intentions of ever paying full price for your product, thus defeating the purpose of the deal. 2. groupon will not give you much support and will often over sell a deal to the point that the company will be back logged for months. 3. groupon customers are very self entitled and the minute you cannot give them exactly what they want, despite them getting a 60% or more discount on the deal, they will take to Yelp with a vengeance and destroy your companies name. 4. the customers are mean spirited, they know they have no intention of returning but want to make sure you treat them like royalty. 5. you will end up spending much much more than you make just hiring ex |
