"Turtles are reptiles of the order Testudines (the crown group of the superorder Chelonia), characterised by a special bony or cartilaginous shell developed from their ribs that acts as a shield.[2"> "Turtle" may either refer to the Testudines as a whole, or to particular Testudines which make up a form taxon that is not monophyletic."
Although I'll concede that the word "tortoise" is more common for that specific kind of reptile. We live in a world where the word "turtle" is used and accepted for all chelonians. |

That's a tortoise, not a turtle. We don't have turtles in Croydon. Turtles live in the ocean, and not in some confused American world where you can give animals the wrong names. |
