Sunday, May 27, 2012 9:28:15 PM I test aerospace parts for a living - yeah, it's very common and industry standards that we test every single piece for reliability and lack of degradation from such events. What's more common (almost constant) is the amount of static charge the plane itself builds up moving through the air. |

Sunday, May 27, 2012 10:59:04 AM I've seen that too and I don't think the pilot considered it lightning but a static discharge caused by moving through moist air. I know it seems like it would be the same thing to us, but I suppose saying its just an atmospheric anomaly causes less panic than saying "Oh my God, we've been struck by lightning!" |
