Penguin has some interesting points. Obviously theres a difference between harmless behaviour like being gay or getting turned on by shoes, and harmful behaviour like abusing children or animals, but it does seem a bit bizarre to bait people who are clearly not right in the head for entertainment value. |

It's always seemed contradictory to look at someone who's gay or has a fetish and say 'well, you can't help what you're attracted to. It's not their fault.' then right after say something like, idk, 'If you're going to be a predator to children, you deserve to be humiliated like this.' Pedophiles are one of the few groups that are still socially acceptable to hate.
Of course I'm not suggesting permitting the behavior, but there's striving to actually understand something and attempting to rationally and constructively discuss possible solutions, and then there's just straight up hating ppl who are different. Humiliating them on TV so some ppl can boost their pitiful egos by convincing themselves they're better isn't helpful.
For all we know this could be a complex mental disorder and in a few years we will have cured it, just as with a number of other behaviors in the past...but hey, that would mean one less group to dump on, and some desperately need others to look d |
