@BlazingBird "Using a kid to further someone else's motive. It's rehearsed, you can tell."

Really? A 12-year-old kid with limited knowledge and zero pertinent real-life economic skills had to practice a little to give this 6 minute speech? Obviously, she must be of special needs, as every toddler in my son's daycare can rattle off Homer's Odyssey and all the works of Shakespeare, verbatim, without even having read them.

She missed the larger point: if the government weren't spending more than it was taking in, it wouldn't have to borrow ANY money from ANYONE! When you spend money, it has to come from somewhere. You can raise taxes, borrow it from banks or by selling bonds, or you can create it out of thin air. This latter option does not, according to popular misconception, cause inflation; this IS inflation. Rising prices are caused by inflation.

Tax, borrow, or print. It's the SPENDING, stupid.

It's true fractional banking is the problem. It should be a crime. Banking is legalized fraud.

"her daddy wrote it"
NOT her mommy? You sexist b-tards! :P I'm reporting y'all to the NOW!

This information is readily available! A few hours of research and BINGO! There you have it! There's nothing in her speach that's secret or unknowable to a 12 year old, yet the MSM simply cannot be bothered to report on it...

@Ilikelogic: Absoultely this is how banking works. They're allowed to loan out many times (6X iirc) what they have 'on deposit' and collect intrest off this 'invisible money'.

Furthermore: Canada has a rule which allows banks to ALSO loan 20% of their deposits value to the Government!! On top of their other loans! Ca-CHING! Free profit for the banks!

NOW Banks want to also sell insurance! On their OWN LOANS! Talk about corruption...

She's 12, and she knows more about the economy than all those buffoons in Ottawa and the White House.

Good for her! Victoria for Prime Minister!

Every once in a while you say something I agree with CrakrJak. This being one of those times, of course. Capitalism works only if the controls and punishments are in place to prevent its abuse. It's not working now.

For America, I believe a big piece of solving our banking problem is to re-institute the Glass-Steagall act. Glass-Steagall was instituted after the crash of 1929 lead us into the great depression. Banks were gambling with private money and mortgages then just as they did in the 2000s, it was disastrous then and even more so lately.

If we are ever to climb our way out of this mess and prevent another roll of the dice collapse we need to make the banks and investment firms divest themselves from one another. No bank should ever be "Too big to fail" and we should never bailout another one again.

If we could teach all of our children to think and expresss themselves with this level of skill and logic, we could fix the world.

I kept waiting for the sniper shot. The powers that be don't tend to like the truth being put out there for the masses. Look for her family to have a tragic auto accident.

She lost me at the Bible reference. I really hate how people referrer back to the bible to make a point. You don't see me referencing Snow White.

I've been told for several times now that banks give loans which are not backed up by savings.
I still can't believe this.
Could some banker (preferrably) from Luxemburg confirm or deny whether this is done or not, on a worldwide scale respectively in Luxemburg?
