Thursday, May 17, 2012 9:13:23 AM @casidhe You do realise that based on your statement: Krill may be tiny but If Krill die out all life will follow (they are essential to the climate due to the gas they release and they feed most of the oceans life forms) and Since the 70's there has been an 80% decline in Krill 80% of the marine life in the ocean would also have declined and died since the 70's, of which, through observation, we can clearly see hasn't happened. In actual fact the paper “Global phytoplankton decline over the past century”, by Daniel G. Boyce which provided this data turned out to be nonsense. |

Thursday, May 17, 2012 9:03:43 AM jbwhite, I think that the fact oceans are getting more acidic is certainly a cause for some concern. |

Thursday, May 17, 2012 4:33:48 AM Stuff lives in the bottom of the ocean at 600 degrees Fahrenheit (315 C). This poo does not matter, life will go on in one form or another. We are insects. |

Thursday, May 17, 2012 3:19:23 AM look to the seas for your answers about global warming. The ocean is one big food chain much of it comprised of crustaceans .Their calcium carbonate shells dissolve in environments that are too acidic. Is this happening ? Yes.How long have crustaceans happily existed on earth ? About 510 million years ! Krill may be tiny but If Krill die out all life will follow (they are essential to the climate due to the gas they release and they feed most of the oceans life forms) As temperatures have risen over the years Antarctic sea ice has melted, which affects the krill because they feed on algae beneath the ice. Since the 70's there has been an 80% decline in Krill. As ocean temperature are rising swiftly and ice caps melt seawater is becoming fresher in some areas which actually causes increased salinity in subtropical regions as fresher water moves more slowly affecting essential currents .None of this is good news for fish who don't have the time to evolve or ada |

Wednesday, May 16, 2012 11:03:42 PM Warmest month on record = incontrovertible proof of man-made global warming. Coldest month on record = you can't make generalizations from a single month. |

Wednesday, May 16, 2012 7:57:56 PM I looked at the article and it clearly says the 5 warmest APRIL, not 5th warmest month. |

Wednesday, May 16, 2012 6:22:38 PM The 5th Warmest month in the past 131 years? Considering the earth is at least 4 billion years that really does not seem that impressive to me. |

Wednesday, May 16, 2012 9:32:41 AM What Rick_S said. Anyway, we always seem to have the same debates here, with neither side ceding anything to the other. It's happening, despite the hot air getting kicked around in these forums. Pun intended. |

Wednesday, May 16, 2012 9:23:41 AM "That's it--the global warming argument can now be put to rest. " Just as a single cold month (like March was) doesn't disprove global warming, a single warm month, even the warmest on record, doesn't prove it. It takes years, if not decades of a slow but steady OVERALL increase in temperatures to prove it. And, as we've seen on various videos around here lately, they have exactly that data. |

Wednesday, May 16, 2012 9:17:22 AM "April Was Fifth Warmest Month On Record Globally. That's it--the global warming argument can now be put to rest." what a really idiotic thing to say. You are broadcasting to the whole world that you have no idea what the debate is about. The fact of temperature increase is not in serious dispute. The amount of rise is uncertain (largely due to undocumented adjustments made by "scientists" to old data, but also due to many other problems with the data) and more importantly the cause of the rise is completely unknown. Even if (and that's a big "if" given error bars and later processing of the data which might change this) April was the fifth warmest month that has no bearing on either of these disputes. |
