@BrimstoneOne - So it's a study of mathematic, is it?
It has an S at the end as it's plural. So to abbreviate it to math, you have to put an S on the end too. |

Fair enough. Makes sense, too. Just not used that way here, so it seems odd. I imagine there's a lot we say differently that seems odd there. |

Moose (single)- Moose (plural)
As far as I'm concerned this (example above) is the example of plural and singular use of the word math. Also binary math is sooo much more easier than times tables.

Maths are hard!
I was never very good at math until a moment in, I believe, tenth grade, when a very gifted math teacher was explaining a trigonometry problem to me. Suddenly, I got it; everything became marvelously clear and I realized with a thrill that I had finally grasped the underlying beauty and grandeur of mathematics. Unfortunately, I was wrong. I promptly forgot everything I had just learned and went on to relentlessly flunk math until they let me give up.
To this day I am not allowed to play with my own checkbook. |

Oh, I should mention. It's Maths in the UK. I don't know about the rest of the English speaking world though, maybe an aussie could fill in here? |

@broizfam - Maths = Math. But you knew that, you were just being facetious.
Think about it. A teacher teaches you mathematics. Right? Shorten Mathematics into Math if you will, and apparantly the teacher is just teaching a single mathematic? No, Mathematics is multiple as is Maths |
