THe worst was when my 18 year old friend and coworker killed himself and his parents were religious but he was far from it, but the whole time the priest was talking about how hes probably going to hell for committing suicide and not being a believer and we should learn from his mistakes. it took major restraint not to stand up and call the priest and my friends family out in front of everyone. It is disgusting what is accepted because of religion. |

Reading this one I really had to sign in.. I had a similar run in at my fathers funeral earlier this year... OMG I seriously wanted to burn the church (which my grandfather literally built the lower level of) to the ground... I was so pissed off at the constant everyone needs to come and donate atitude of the preacher that I nearly lost my cool. I haven't followed religion in many years because of this type of thought pattern. OK. I feel a bit better now that I have that off my chest. |

I personally would never have let that whole thing go on. I would have got up, said "thank you" in a "I hate you" kinda way and then said something nice instead. |

That's how it works. One of the first things that set me on the path to becoming a non-believer was in CCD when I was told if I miss church services or misbehave during church then I'd be going to hell. That's when I started questioning the motives of the catholic church and all other religions. |

I love the fact that whenever there is anti-Republican post, everyone says this site has become nothing but an anti Republican site.
And whenever there is anti-Obama post, everyone says this site has become nothing but an anti-Obama site.
And whenever there is anti-Christian post, everyone says this site has become nothing but an anti-Christian site.
And whenever there is anti-Athiest post, everyone says this site has become nothing but an anti-Atheist site.

A friend's mom - a woman with little use for church or religion - died some years ago. Her religious son and his wife insisted on a Christian service, and proudly announced to all there that they had more or less hectored her into "accepting Jesus as her saviour" on her friggin' deathbed. "So you can all be relieved she's not in Hell" was the implication.

@Zach82. I agree. This happened at a funeral ?? So unlikely, I'd say this is fake.
To be fair, I have to say today's page 1 list of features is one of the better page 1's than I've seen in a long while. A little controversy and a little trolling (like this feature) but overall fairly balanced. Some politics, humour, current net content, various other subjects, what this site used to look like alot more often. I hope this holds as the norm going forward..... |

Omfg. STOP WITH ALL THE RELIGIOUS POSTS. This does nothing but rile up the Atheists who visit the site, and alienate any religious people who visit. This place is turning in to a poo hole.
Either post funny videos and interesting articles or just stop. At least crack on both sides evenly. This site has turned in to a damn religion bashing forum. |
