Maybe you should have continued watching. It wasn't a video mourning the loss of a loved one, it was him telling his story about how his boyfriend's family took his finances, personal belongings, and his body away, held their own funeral, and didn't include him in any of it. If they were married, it would have been very different. |

You know, I got half way through the video, started laughing and turned it off.
I honestly could not give a ****. Not just because I am sick to death of hearing about gay people on what is becoming the most bland, boring site on the internet, but also because **** happens. People die. It sucks. Get over it and move on. |

How did you get that he killed himself. Jump to conclusions much? He fell in a freak accident while taking pictures of a friend.
Oh. I guess I shouldn't have just assumed that. I just kind of got the feeling that he killed himself. How did you know how he died? |

I took a friend and her family out boating today. While out on the lake we docked at her friends house. Their 20 year-old kid just came out and the father and brother are not taking it well. It's so sad. Luckily he doesn't live at home anymore. I really don't understand some people. |

I'm all for civil union. The same rights. The same obligations. The same responsibilities. Civil union is for gays. Marriage is for heterosexuals, not gays. Marriage is for procreation. There's no such thing as a square wheel.
So mandatory fertility tests before any marriage can take place? No marriages for any woman over childbearing age?

As sad as this may be, both of them were either incredibly naive or seriously negligent of the realities of their situation- as wrong as those realities are.
This is, unfortunately, neither an isolated nor an uncommon story in America; We will spend billions and kill hundreds of thousands to bring 'freedom' to foreign lands- whether they want it or not, but we openly discriminate against our own citizens. What a world. |

I agree with the sentiment, homosexuals should be recognised as next of kin if required.
But call me heartless, but I'm numb to this poo now.
I had a much worse situation (imo) happen directly to me last year which as left me a single parent. This is only getting airplay because it's about two gay guys. |

I'm pretty sure California recognizes gay marriages from other places. |

For tax purposes. Also for inheritance laws and legal decision making in the event you cannot, coma, alsheimers, etc. Property rights as well as financial obligations.
"Marriage" is not just a religious ceremony. It has many legal repurcusions. |

Actually pretty sad, and douchebag parents.
But I fear I'm being manipulated by propaganda.
They could have had a private wedding ceremony and gave each other legal powers of attorney etc. Why does the government have to recognize ANYONE's marriage, straight or gay? |
