Tuesday, May 15, 2012 4:28:33 AM Whoever made this map and correlation is ghey, I am originally from Wilmington, N.C. all of the places with the highest degree percentages are where the universities are LOCATED also meaning younger urban hubs that are not under the influence of the old Republican Jessie Helms belief system. The state is getting more progressive as time passes; and the bible belt drifts even further south with all the old bible thumpers dying off, whom keep ignorant laws on the books... |

Friday, May 11, 2012 9:09:43 PM If you followed this at all, it's not about the definition of marriage, they already had that one pass their political machine. This one affects other couples too... Not just gay couples. They already have a law on the books that says marriage is between a man and a woman. |

Thursday, May 10, 2012 11:23:54 PM @angillon. It is possible this is less about the definition of homosexuality, and more about the definition of marriage, for many on all sides of this issue. Regarding higher education, I have met people educated way beyond their intelligence, and they were actually dumber than a fence post. I have met people with little formal education, but nevertheless highly intelligent, informed, and very astute in understanding a wide range of issues. Things may not actually be as simple and straightforward as this set of maps seems to imply.... |

Thursday, May 10, 2012 10:34:12 PM getting a degree certainly doesn't make you dumber, does it? Have you ever tried to hold a conversation with someone who got a degree in Feminist Studies? |

Thursday, May 10, 2012 8:18:06 PM Most colleges nowadays are just socialist boot camps. Half the degrees they grant aren't work the paper they're printed on let alone $200K in debt. |

Thursday, May 10, 2012 7:52:17 PM OutWest: getting a degree certainly doesn't make you dumber, does it? It's not a question of smart or dumb, it's a question of world view. Those that go to college are exposed to different people, different ideas, and different lifestyles. Simple as that. |

Thursday, May 10, 2012 7:02:01 PM It's obvious... college graduates should have more voting power. |

Thursday, May 10, 2012 7:00:48 PM I actually think my poll worker was trying to influence me to vote when I walked in and said, 'I'm just here to vote on amendment one.' Then I found out my vote may not even count because of a BOE dratup. Still, most of NC voted based purely on religious beliefs and not college education. Still stupid nonetheless. |

Thursday, May 10, 2012 6:49:09 PM Blacks Supported This Vote by a 2:1 margin, so it follows: Most blacks are Democrats: that means the Democrates rejected gay marriage. All those heaping abuse on the people who voted yes? You're all RACISTS!! LMAO! (no not really, I just think it's funny how y'all have overlooked the obvious: American Blacks simply don't support gay marriage, by 2:1 in this case) |

Thursday, May 10, 2012 5:36:40 PM LOL... people that don't agree of course are not intelligent. As if... getting a degree makes you wiser, smarter, and able to make better choices. This type of validation always cracks me up. |

Thursday, May 10, 2012 5:09:27 PM "This past Monday, North Carolina voted against Amendment 1 banning same-sex marriage." The election was Tuesday, and the state voted FOR the ban, not against it! |

Thursday, May 10, 2012 3:55:11 PM The higher your intelligence and education the less likely you are to pull your morality from an old book of hand me down fairy tales and antiquated rituals. Not even that - it's not really clear what the Christian bible says about homosexuality. Not least because the modern concept of homosexuality didn't really exist back then, not in the same way. That's why the handful of possible references are to homosexual sex, not to homosexuality - people back then generally thought in terms of people doing homosexual things, not people being homosexual. I wrote "possible references" deliberately, because it really isn't anywhere near as clear as it's made out to be by the dubious interpretations of bad translations that are what appear in bibles from the last 1500 years or so. If anyone cares, I'll explain. Anyone who wants to look for themselves could search "arsenokoitai" for a good start. |

Thursday, May 10, 2012 3:36:48 PM Although this doesn't strictly prove anything, it certainly indicates that homophobia is caused by ignorance. Which honestly makes sense.. If you really think rationally about homosexuality and gay marriage, there's only one conclusion. Opposing it is pointless, because it doesn't actually affect anyone else but those having buttsex/getting married.. |

Thursday, May 10, 2012 2:17:13 PM @maggierose78 The percentage of BAs can be found on the US census website. The counties who voted for or against is a matter of public record. This graph is accurate. |

Thursday, May 10, 2012 2:12:53 PM What is this measured against? Where is the data to back this up? All we have is a colored map, and absolutely no data to back it up. How many people were surveyed? Proving a statistical point requires more than here say, or is that beyond the original poster's intellectual capacity? If you want to make a comparison, I would suggest actual data. |

Thursday, May 10, 2012 2:06:53 PM @bophus: So close to making a point, but then the epic fail, *sigh* Hmmm I seem to have struck a nerve! Why are folks so touchy about this? |

Thursday, May 10, 2012 2:01:01 PM I'm well educated and I'm not liberal. The two do not necessarily correlate, just like these two maps have no true correlation. I mean, it's talking about bachelor's degrees, for god's sake. They hand out bachelor's degrees in communications and psychology to every dumbass these days. |

Thursday, May 10, 2012 1:48:47 PM Also, you are in canada, which is barely a country to begin with, so get out of our politics. Kinda hard to get out of your politics when we're inundated with US politics posts all the time. If you don't want us in your backwards politics then stop blabbing about them all the time. Basically, you sound like a dumb b*tch showing off cleavage and then getting mad when someone comments on it. Way to go, bro, you've won the interwebz. |
