They did it because teenagers are 'sexting' each other more often, and if someones under the age of 18, even if they're only 15 looking at their naked 15 year old girlfriend, that's considered looking at child-porn. Too many teenagers got busted for this, because legally, it's a crime. |

Good move. I browse 4chan from time to time and don't want to be held liable for some stupid troll.
This bill was obviously passed by a very techno savvy judge. Evidence of active downloading and not passive cacheing is what separates this clause. |

@LordJim: Not kiddie porn, but years ago my brother's computer got so infected by porn pop-ups he had to scrub the hard drive. No anti-virus he tried could stop it! (and he's a programmer!)

Yes. In a chat window someone sent me a vile pic of a youngster in ... I won't describe it.
I suspect it was probably an undercover cop on the chatlines trying to catch people. But I didn't ask or solicit, it was just sent with "do you like that?"... I deleted and closed the window, but if "viewing" meant posession then I'd be guilty never having ever had child porn.
Though child porn is aweful, but the idea that "viewing something on the net is the same as posessing" is like saying 'looking at a hooker is the same a f*cking one'. |

Crabes nailed it. If a guy winds up with a pop up of child porn, he should be arrested for it. However, if he's watching popups of child porn on a daily basis, then the "it was an accident" excuse goes out the window, IMO. |

It's never happened to me. However I've had suspicious things happen while following links through the sites that are listed here at IAB as friends. Hop from link to link to link and all of a sudden crap starts popping up as quick as I can close it. Like a serious game of Wack-A-Mole. As a result I don't further into those sites than a single re-direct from here. |

Yeah I've always felt this was a slippery slope argument. There has been child pornography since man could draw. Much of the art at the Vatican would be considered child pornography under our current laws. To limit one medium you limit them all. Glad the judges woke up to the lunacy of anyone who looks is a pedophile. |

FoolsPrussia - Chances are if you even have an email address then you've had some and not realised it. If you have a spam filter/folder, then there is almost no chance you will have, but you'll technically have it on your computer and thus can be arrested for it. I wouldn't be surprised if a fair few people who have been arrested for it actually didn't know it was there. |

It's a tricky issue. We all want the sickos out there punished but what happens if you accidentally stumble upon it. We've all hit an embedded link and been taken somewhere we didn't expect. I'd hate for the 5-O to bust down my door for something like that. Where do you draw the line? |

A virus could very easily plant these images on your hard drive, could it not? And it's possible to stumble upon something seedy online unintentionally. Say you're on some message board and someone posts one of these images. Is it your fault if you saw it? |

Not a crime... It doesn't harm anyone to watch it, just as it doesn't harm anyone when people watch videos of... people being gassed by nazis, or something like that.
Besides, you can't fight human nature. There will always be a small percentage of sick people, and thus always demand. Cut off the supply - that's the only way. |

Actually I agree with the judges. What if some child porn picture pops up on my computer, or a virus puts them on there and I delete them. They're still stored in the cache, but it's not like I was possessing child porn. |
