Nah, you wouldnt flip the back end up like that if the front tire didnt catch the hole. If the "tail shaft" caught, it would have just ripped that part off completely.
PS. Mythbusters isnt a good source, more sensationalism than science. |

@honkeylips. Not just druggies steal manhole covers. Metal commodity prices are high...many unscrupulous non-druggies are into stealing copper pipe and cable, manhole covers, etc. |

I'd say the tail shaft was hanging down and caught on the manhole cover, or just a hole in general, and launched it like a catapault. Mythbusters did an episode on it. |
