and thats why you buy a smart phone never carried by ATT and sign up for their 10 dollar media net plan. I'm using a D2G running gingerbread now, and before that was using a Galaxy 5. Loop holes ahoy! |

One little point this article fails to mention that makes this guy's whining even more pathetic - that $6.1bn in texting revenue was pure profit. Text messages piggyback on the cellular signal (which is why the message length is limited), so they don't cost the operators a single penny. Complaining about a drop in the huge amount of free money they get from their customers is truly pitiful. |

Well, I didn't get a smartphone until last year, and the sole reason I went with Verizon over AT+Twas that Verizon had an unlimited data plan (they've since gone to a tiered thing too). Sometimes it's not about how much money you can squeeze out of your customers but about attracting customers in the first place. |

Sabotaging own services? Deliberately slowing down the download speed for using too much data? Isn't it unlimited? I'm pretty sure there is a nifty law suit lurking in there somewhere. |

Gerry1of1: Yep, when I was out of town, I got a call from an AT&T operator for using too much data in a location that didn't have sufficient range or something like that and if I don't stop, my connection would slow down. Just made me use it more. |

I actually have this plan--grandfathered in from years ago. AT&T's service is spotty at best, but knowing that this uptight jerk-off is upset that the unlimited plan is stuck will make me never get rid of it. |

AT&T slows down your download speed if you use too much data time. {link below} This is supposed to discourage you from using it so much. What kind of business sense does it make to deliberately make your product work poorly?
