Also Saddam and Osama both declared war on the USA many years ago. Their goal wasn't invasion, their goal was destruction.

Not really. Military intervention in Afghanistan and Iraq has not made us safer from terrorists. I mean, the Afghan army was never going to invade the US or UK.
Having said that, military personnel do not get to choose which wars to fight. We do. Collectively we are responsible for what is done by the governments we elect.
The troops go where we send them, if we send them to the wrong place or for the wrong reason that does not alter the duty of respect we owe them for going into the mouth of hell at our behest.
I prefer that to a system where the military get to make policy.
Democracy, it ain't perfect but don't take it out on the PBI. |

We had the choice of where to fight those azzholes and we decided to fight them over there instead of here and it was the right decision. We've brought Al Qaeda to it's knees, Bin Laden is dead and so is Saddam.
