Monday, May 07, 2012 7:43:40 AM Bridog6996: In what journal did you read that study? As a psychologist I can say neither I or any of my colleagues are aware of this "psychological study" you're referring to. Frankii: It's not the act of milking a cow or harvesting a honey comb vegans and vegetarians take issue with. It is the condition the dairy cows are kept in, and the breeding of specific honey bees that is making the natural honeybee population dwindle. It's not the animal byproducts (milk and honey) that are looked down upon, it is the way the animals are treated to get that byproduct. And, just as a disclaimer, I'm a meat-eater. |

Sunday, May 06, 2012 12:31:29 PM Psychological studies show that vegetarians/vegans/etc are among groups of people that almost always have some type of superiority complex. In our modern society, common "acceptable" ways for this "I'm better than you" behavior to present is with things like religion and food choices. Therefore, it's no coincidence that people who are vegan are generally pretty annoying about it. It's a mental thing. |

Saturday, May 05, 2012 11:05:17 PM @FoolsPrussia, if the vegan lifestyle is about abstaining from preventable suffering, why do they eat plants? Plants also feel pain, it's been provenPlants feel pain so the vegan argument about preventing suffering is a lie. |

Saturday, May 05, 2012 4:37:55 PM Cows produce milk just by grazing. Honey is also a necessary labor for bees, and all we take is the excess. I understand eggs though. |

Saturday, May 05, 2012 2:33:28 AM But cows need to be milked, if people don't do it then they do it themselves and I'm pretty sure the bees do it anyway as well |

Friday, May 04, 2012 5:32:48 PM There's also the matter of animals not having much of a choice, much less so than any human, no matter the situation. Doesn't phase me all that much though. I was a vegetarian for over 5 years, but not because of "animal rights" type issues. There can be decent logic to reasoning which I may not agree with. Her logic, however, is horrifyingly lame and overtly political (gotta beg for a laugh somehow). Yay pandering to a specific audience! |

Friday, May 04, 2012 4:48:28 PM Her logic makes no sense. A vegan lifestyle is about abstaining from preventable suffering. Migrant workers come here in search of a better life, and should be treated respectfully as well. Nobody ever says any different. |

Friday, May 04, 2012 3:22:55 PM I had a student (in a writing composition class) going off about being vegan. I just replied (straight-faced) that I like to eat things that at least have the possibility of having had a soul.
