I'm against religion in public school but let the kid wear the shirt he wants to wear. People need to learn that sometimes people will advertise dumb things, you don't need to pay it any attention. |

I bet a student couldn't wear a shirt to the same school if it said "life is wasted with Jesus" either. Religious people are so ignorant sometimes. |

as a non-christian i find this shirt VERY offensive. it is a direct attack towards non-christians and clearly says that because we are not christian that out lives are being wasted. this shirt preaches nothing but hate |

Absolutely nothing wrong with someone wearing that shirt. It's like not allowing a Jay Z shirt because he's black and black people were slaves and it might offend someone. |

Questions for @burglar, @Groogle and even @PinkRhoid:
#1 Did the school also ban pot t-shirts? Rock band shirts? Shirts with ANY slogan that MIGHT offend someone else?
No.
#2: MLK was arrested many times, should HE have just 'follower the rules' like a good nigra?
Note: I am certianly not comparing this kid to MLK, but the principle is the same: If you disagree with a 'rule' you can peacefully protest it!
PS: the "wasted" is a pot-smoking reference, for the dimwits like @soundman who obviously don't 'get it'. |

Why don't idiot atheists just shut up? That's why we (non-idiot atheists) hate you. Christians can wear or say what they like so long as it doesn't impede on my freedoms. Wearing a shirt, as it happens, does not as I am free to look away. In a school it is different as parents worry about their kids "indoctrinated" to a belief and want it separated. That still doesn't mean the kid is stupid for wearing it. Just stupid for not cooperating when requested at the very least until he could file a complaint with the board and seek legitimate action instead of brash defiance. |

@5cats and katy526... i am sorry but you are both wrong. It isnt a shirt with a "slogan". Its a religous shirt with a religous slogan. It says life is a waste without jesus. implying that everyone elses life is a waste. Also...freedom of speach does not apply in school. neither does alot of other constutional rights...I know. this is canada, but same idea. |

Problem child wants to be kicked out in a way he doesn't look like a dropout if you ask me.
If he was just wearing it and minding his own and the school has no policy against wearing shirts with logos (as many do) then the school is likely overreacting although the message on the shirt isn't just a positive exclamation of his faith like, "I love Jesus." It is easy to imagine how some might be offended by someone suggesting that they or their life is worthless if they don't believe what he does. If someone found it offensive I can see why the school might sympathize that it can be construed as offensive and asked him nicely to take it off. He refuses etc. etc.
With almost no info on how it really went down it is impossible to say who is really the oppressor/oppressed and argument over speculation only serves to start religion fights. |
