I didnt even know that was a stereotype. I thought most africans lived in 3rd world or urbanizing areas working blue collar jobs and enjoying football, much like the rest of the world. Thanks mamahope.org for teaching me a new way to think like a racist.
Seriously, people are going too far with these antistereotype campaigns. Future generations could never know stereotypes if you just stoped with all these hardcore ads. Youre taking it too far. |

Hollywood stereotypes everyone. Seen any positive depictions of English people recently? It's pretty much all silly snobs, urbane psychopaths or ranting loonies (depending on which English accent is used). |

i didn't think of machine guns, my first thought was dying of starvation and then email scam artists (I was trying to think of the most negative things i could). having met plenty of africans i don't really have any thing in mind when i meet them now apart from the way they speak. |

Hmm. I thought Blood Diamond portrayed whites in a pretty poor light (the diamond-hungry soldier, the greedy diamond merchants, the evil mercenary leader and his gang) and blacks as either simple good men, or brainwashed. |

Also, pretty sure "all african people are marathon runners" is a common enough stereotype, but it's a cool one so we don't complain about it? |

To be honest though, action movies have made the same stereotypes out of Russians, Asians and Arabs too. It's not just Africans that get the 'bad guy' image in movies.
Also I can think of at least one series of movies were the 'Bad Guys' weren't African, Asian, Arab or Russian. I'll let you IABers guess which movie series it is. |
