The funny thing for me is that I have acrophobia - and, all I could think is what it would be like to live on the surface of a massive transparent sphere.

I think I'd just stare into the abyss as I swallowed my hemlock.

The meaning of Anthropocene

Tho I'm sure this won't go over well with those that still think Humanity isn't affecting our world, our home.

Wow, so many negative comments! All this vid does is show humanity's rise to prominence and and gives welcome to the new epoch in Earth's story. Granted We (humanity) will be a major player in this new epoch.

Any student that has study history at some level can see that this is not propaganda in and of it self.

And the question of "numbers", well the graph went in to the 2020s (which is only 8 years away by the way).

Stupid propaganda...

Humanity is doomed, not the earth. Enjoy it while you can.

"My life fades, the vision dims. All that remains are memories... you have to go back to another time when the world was powered by the black fuel and the deserts sprouted great cities of pipe and steel. Gone now swept away. For reasons long forgotten, two mighty warrior tribes went to war and touched off a blaze which engulfed them all. Without fuel they were nothing. They'd built a house of straw. The thundering machines sputtered and stopped. Their leaders talked and talked and talked but nothing could stem the avalanche. Their world crumbled, the cities exploded. A whirlwind of looting, a firestorm of fear. Men began to feed on men. On the roads it was a white-line nightmare. Only those mobile enough to scavenge, brutal enough to pillage would survive..."

Simple: 'cull' about 3 billion humans from the herd. Problem solved!

Stupid, pretentious video is devoid of fact and/or meaning.

I hate things like this. Incredibly pretentious trash that only says "We have a problem" but offers no real solution.

"We cannot damage the Earth"

It's not the Earth that's being damaged. It's the life that lives on it, including ourselves.

"so we should make the most of it for ourselves"

You call this "neo-Malthusian" but I call your statements Manifest Destiny. I don't think damaging our environment can really be considered "making the most of it for ourselves." Climate change is already impacting a lot of communities around the world and it's really only a matter of time before your community starts to feel the strain as well, unless we change things.

Something big is about to happen, and we will experience true freedom as the old paradigm collapses and a new era is upon us.

That's your faith. Many other people throughout history have had the same faith. It very rarely means anything and when it does it's due to a very practical and very ugly reality - revolution by overwhelming force and death.

Even that rarely has any significant lasting effect - the new rule is usually very similar to the old (e.g. USA) and that's generally the best outcome (e.g. compare it with The Terror after the French revolution).

We need to raise our vibration in LOVE so that we can start to heal our planet[..]

If that's spam for a sex toy shop, it makes no sense because you haven't given an URL.

If it isn't spam for a sex toy shop, it makes no sense.

WHile we are losing bio diversity nature has killed off WAY WAY WAY WAY more species of plants and animals then we ever have AND COULD kill. The kt impact of a asteroid destroyed almost all plant and animal life. Its something like 99%(maybe not 99% but i remember from my earth history its absurdly high % of life is now dead on Earth of animals/plants that were once alive are now dead and a majority of that was before humans/apes even existed haha.

In addition, it wouldn't even matter if the rate of change was normal (and there's no evidence that it is) because the effect on us would be the same. Sticking your head in the sand and hoping it'll all go away is always tempting but it rarely works.

Various species have been evolving, growing, populating the planet , then becoming extinct, for millions of years. Once the human race has become extinct, movement of the tectonic plates will have drawn the bulk of human history down into the mantle where it will have merged with all the other molten material. In millions of years time thousands of other species will have evolved. Some of them may be looking at fossils of human origin, and wondering about our way of life.

lies about the possibility of ocean acidification (how can a base acidify?).

From things in it. Water is ph neutral. Salt water is a mild base because of the salt dissolved in it. Other things also dissolve in water. Many other things. Some of them are acidic or form an acid with water.

Also, salt water would "acidify" simply from having less salt in it - that would make it more acidic than it is now.

You're not helping your argument by making silly statements about what is a lie and what isn't. It makes it look like you're lying and it undermines everything else you say on the subject.

So does your misdirection. Increases in temperature are indeed normal...but not at the current rate. It's like slowing down from 40 to 0 in a car - that's normal and harmless, right? Not if you do it in a fraction of a second by ramming a tree.

We are NOT a cancer on earth. Cancers cause tissues to grow uncontrollably, and the earth ain't gettin no bigger.

We are more like a really, really bad yeast infection. We make a stinky mess but it wouldn't be that hard to get rid of us.

Well summarised.

All this talk about "save the Earth" gets on my tits. Maybe one day humans will be able to destroy a planet, but we're nowhere near able to do that now. We can ruin ecosystems. We can massively change the global environment (we could, for example, make Mars much more like Earth, maybe even inhabitable for us). We can do a lot of things, but we can't destroy a planet. It's not Earth that needs saving. It's us. We're at risk. The planet isn't. It would carry on obliviously as a superheated Venus-like planet or a frozen, airless Mars-like one...but humanity would be extinct.

She talks about "one million years" as if it is a long time, and talks about temperatures increasing as if that was not normal. All the supposedly disastrous things are good. She talks about sea-level rise as if it had not been steady for 150 years or more, and lies about the possibility of ocean acidification (how can a base acidify?).

What a load of neo-Malthusian bollocks.

Humans are here, it is our environment to work for ourselves. We cannot damage the Earth. It is 6000 billion billion tons of rock that has been here for over 4 billion years, not a kitten we are drowning. It was fine before we came, and will be fine after we are gone. There are billions more. The only reason this one is special is because we are here, so we should make the most of it for ourselves.

It is time for us as humans to take responsibility for ourselves, and our enviroment. Something big is about to happen, and we will experience true freedom as the old paradigm collapses and a new era is upon us. We need to raise our vibration in LOVE so that we can start to heal our planet instead of killing it. Our planet is an ecosystem of its own, we are like bacterias on her body. Like we have trillions of bacteria inside our own bodies, bacterias help us, but can make us sick. WE HAVE A CHOICE! Will you be the bad or the good one?
