Thursday, April 26, 2012 2:54:47 PM Amazing woman, but that must be such a drain on her energy. Loved the bit where her dad told her to watch her language. |

Thursday, April 26, 2012 1:10:14 AM My former boss used to stutter, sometimes pretty bad. After a few weeks, you don't even notice it anymore. Same thing here - you just get so used to it, you'd be thrown off if it were to disappear. |

Wednesday, April 25, 2012 11:10:38 PM I watched this series a few weeks ago (it was on TV) as I am interested in the evolution of communication (Yes I'm a nerd too lol ). This episode was fascinating and also showed how the body's response to pain reduces when you swear, but this doesn't happen if you swear a lot in general. Stephen Fry was one guinea pig, and Brian Blessed was the other. It's pretty funny to watch |

Wednesday, April 25, 2012 9:29:15 PM I once listened to a radio interview (yes, I'm that nerdish that I listen to talk radio on the way to work - besides the point), with a woman with Tourette's. But her tic wasn't "F*ck!", or "Biscuit!", it was "I love you!". It was either a) charming, b) very depressing that she had such a serious psychological disorder or c) just her being an attention whore and there was nothing wrong with her. You be the judge, I tried my best not to in that case. |

Wednesday, April 25, 2012 8:12:16 PM So-o-o-o.... if you got someone like her to volunteer to be held completely immobile in a chair, would the verbal ticks increase or cease? It would be such an interesting affliction to try gentle experiments with. |

Wednesday, April 25, 2012 7:13:36 PM I found it interesting that the F word was heard so much around the reporter, but not around the children. She wasn't with them long, but as much as she said it with him, you would think it would have come out with the children too. Maybe it's some sort of subliminal control where she says the bad words less when it would normally be inappropriate for one to say them at all. |

Wednesday, April 25, 2012 4:37:30 PM I always wondered about the words that people with touretts said. You only ever hear about them saying inappropriate words, and I always thought that it was interesting that they are only affected with that type of tick. To see her ticks pepper her speech with both the F word, and biscuit, was really kind of enlightening. |
