@Stonardsftw Finally, someone gets it. My Pug/Cavalier is so into her treats that she will slap you across the face if you hold it away from her for longer than a few seconds. :)

@Revolutioniz

She made an exaggeration, but she is partly correct. Some dogs do not drool as much as others, and usually dogs that drool insane amounts have some kind of health issue. That isn't to say that there are just drooly dogs that are plenty healthy, even though her wording may not have been perfect.

@LadyMorgue

My dog, who is a labrador/pitbull mix will either freak out and start slamming into you (due to the tail wagging) to try and convince you to give her the treat, or she will sit and paw at you (because of the sit, then shake command).

With the amount of endorphins they're getting, it's probably like doggy opiates.

Lol at LadyMorgue, "I was wrong" repeat it a few thousand times. or at least until you realize that it's not a big deal to be wrong, you're only lying to yourself.. lol

@Hedkwab What's cool about anything I said? Nothing. I was simply stating facts. It's obvious to everyone watching the video that the dog is drooling over the treat.

I was simply giving other reasons why a dog would drool like that.

If you would like me to more into detail, dogs will also drool due to various brain disorders.

@Stonardsftw My Boston Terrier absolutely ADORES liver treats! I love to use them with agility training because it really helps them keep their eyes on the prize. LoL

lol when my dog has a milkbone in her mouth and she walks around looking for a nice spot to sit down and enjoy her treat, you see all the drool spots on the carpet where she sniffed and went somewhere else.

That treat right there is dried liver, and it is the most delicious smelling thing in the world to dogs. I've seen dogs leap 5+ feet in the air at these treats, and obey every single command to the letter. Once you give a dog these treats, they will probably not respond very well to anything else.

@LadyMorgue: you should probably just admit you were wrong instead of trying and failing to play it off cool

@Buiadh Actually I went to college for canine obedience and am the proud owner of two dogs.

Notice, I said "pretty much only 2 reasons". I did not say those were the only two reasons. I am aware that some dogs may salivate when food is near.

LadyMorgue:

I LOVE it when people try to sound all smart and knowledgeable. Buiadh is right, many dog breeds will drool when food is near, or when it's supper time (e.g. my dog). Ever hear of Pavlov's dog and classical conditioning? look it up--hint: dog drools at the sound of a tuning fork because he associated the instrument with food.

Gonna guess you're not much of a dog person, LadyMorgue?

Most dog breeds drool when there's food about. Retrievers are prone to overeating, they LURVE food. They're like the Muricans of the canine world.

There are pretty much only 2 reasons why a Golden Retriever would be drooling like that...

1) Just woke up from sedation.

2) Massive tooth issues.
