We also produced Herman's Hermits, Showaddywaddy and The Dave Clarke 5...... all absolute gash! And as for Gary Glitter.... |

Monday, April 23, 2012 10:49:24 AM Oh and it's not just boybands who do that, the girl groups do the same kinds of things. I just don't follow the girl groups as much so I don't have gif examples of them :P |

Monday, April 23, 2012 10:45:20 AM At least in America, I rarely see it o.o But it's still considered fan service even if it's common in Korea/China (really can't remember right now but I /think/ they're more open to guys hugging and etc without thinking they're gay or anything). Even just goofing off together, which is perfectly normal in any friendship, is fanservice if it's done on stage/in public. They even sometimes jump hug (like, run up to them and wrap their legs around them while hugging) or kiss on the cheek, or in the case of a certain singer who's currently doing the mandatory 2 year military service, surprise kiss on the lips to his bandmates (he's kissed on the lips probably half of them on stage and there's 15 members :P) |

Monday, April 23, 2012 10:04:51 AM Thanks Lillian! I don't think I'm going to see any of my favorite bands or artists offer this kind of fanservice though! D: Saying that, is guy hugging guy so uncommon? Myself and my mates are pretty down with the hugs. |

Monday, April 23, 2012 9:55:01 AM I did a little google search and basically nothing came up for "One Direction fanservice" so I'm guessing there's another term for it or their fans just don't call it anything. The fandoms I belong to always call it fanservice though. Here's some examples because I'm pathetic and can't help myself D: You're lucky I stopped at 3 :D Air kiss fanservice Stealing another member away for a hug fanservice Back hug fanservice Edited them into links instead <_< |

Monday, April 23, 2012 9:30:54 AM Buiadh, there's a couple of different kinds of fanservice. One kind is really typical of any singer. Things like waving at fans or pretty much doing anything that's interacting with fans that you know your fans will like. The kind I'm referring to is mainly doing things with your band mates that you know the fans will like. Things like holding hands, leaning on the other person, hugging, goofing off together on stage, or in interviews talking about how handsome the other member is or how if you were a girl you'd date them or w/e. Idk if 1D does all of those things because I'm not their fan, but I've seen them do a little bit of that just from what I see on tumblr. But yeah basically anything that's "acting like a couple" that they do purposefully to make their horny fangirls crazy. My favorite groups have done it for ages, but 1D is the first English speaking group I've noticed do it frequently. |

Monday, April 23, 2012 8:57:33 AM What I like about One Direction is it seems finally an English speaking boy band has discovered fanservice :P However, I have a feeling this is just an awkwardly timed photo so I'd like to see the fancam <_< (video or it didn't happen) |
