I'm originally from the bible belt, so I'm way too familiar with the side-hug. It's usually young born-again types who do this crap. Oddly enough, it was a minister who taught me how a "proper" hug is done (right arm up, left arm down, three pats on the back) |

This is the hilarious thing: Hardcore Christians are so sexually repressed that they are the only ones to over-sexualize stupid poo like a HUG. People with healthy sex lives can hug people without having an anxiety attack. Probably the same reason so many priests just can't stay away from the choir boys.. |

@5cats: Just so you know, saying that muslims are worse doesn't mean that christians don't worry about this slippery-slope to licentious revelry, which is a total joke. Look at studies and anyone can see that abstinence-only education programs don't do anything to prevent sex. Although, I have to admit, a good face-to-face hug always seems to get a 3/4 chub going.  |

I would think that just as important would be the SAME SEX Christian side hug, lest the greeting of a dear friend one hasn't seen in a long time be misconstrued as a homosexual contact, thereby necessitating an emergency exorcism.
