Sunday, April 22, 2012 10:18:05 PM I lived in northern Minnesota for 3 years. The flat land that makes these storms look horrifying. However, they're just storms. Only one town was destroyed by a tornado in the time I lived there. Well the population was like, 30, it was hardly a town. |

Sunday, April 22, 2012 6:36:33 PM I grew up in Rapid City, South Dakota, and I can tell you that the weather there is amazing. I grew up in a house on a hill that overlooked the city. We had a huge picture window that faced east, so we could watch incredible storms followed by the most amazing rainbows. I've seen more double rainbows than I can count. Rapid City, SD holds not one, but TWO temperature records. In 1911 it had the fastest temperature drop on record, 47 °F (26 °C) in 5 minutes. And in 1943 it had the fastest temperature rise, 49 °F (27 °C) in 2 minutes. Having to sit down in the basement to sit out a few tornado warnings (which are actually pretty boring) is a pretty minor trade off for that. |

Sunday, April 22, 2012 10:26:18 AM While we didn't have the "mothership" formation, when Hurricane Charley was heading our way, it was a very ominous looking wall of dark clouds that made us know we were in for a doozy. Weather is so cool!

Sunday, April 22, 2012 10:10:08 AM Manitoba's Monster Tornado It's in the links at the end. Easily the strongest tornado in Manitoba's history, probably all of Canada's. Less than 50km (30 miles) from my city! |
