The only reason I am anti-marijuana is because every pothead I knew was drating annoying as hell. It may be immature and petty, but I could care less.

I don't give two s.hits whether it gets legalized or not. When I buy weed, there's no hassle and there aren't any taxes, and I always smoke at home, so I'm not worried about getting caught by the police. It sucks that people get thrown in prison for selling/possessing it though. It's a waste of taxpayer dollars to put such petty criminals away when they should be keeping cells available for violent criminals.

Carmium, you obviously dont know anyone who grows decent chron, the majority are not criminals in the sense you seem to think. That would make me just as criminal as them for smoking it as they are for growing it.

Just because they grow doesnt mean they're thug no good criminals, I know guys who do it for a living others just for some extra cash and a lot of these guys live normal lives and have families.

There will always be useless potheads lying around just as there have always been useless drunks lying around - I don't see a big difference. I'm for taking the growing of MJ out of the hands of the criminal element and saving many lives and billions in police costs every year. The dope itself, I couldn't care less about.

Then even more reason to legalize, those that don't need it (exacerbating their problems) couldn't get it. Why, after all these years are we still depending on the ideas of SO long ago? Why can't we even grow hemp? Which has many great qualities, none of which get you high? Why the stigma on that? I like Ron Paul more and more.

Again, pot is not anything like heroin. It's not a "Gateway drug" If you want to try heroin then you will, you could have bypassed pot altogether. If you like coke, pot is not for you as it has downing effect. I am surprised at all the attitude here. Has the christian right flown up the bums of America?

@geckohead there is a proven link that those who have a pred disposition to mental illnesses can be triggered by weed. legalising it and increasing it's use exacerbates the potential skizos

Personally though legalise all drugs! prohibition dosent work legalise it and tax it destroy the crime surrounding it(which fund human trafficking and guns) and lower my taxes instead. btw go amsterdam walking round everyone just feels retarded....

It was easier for me to get hold of cannabis than it was alcohol or fags before I was of age.

I think it's a great idea. I'm certainly not skitzoid, even after 35 years of the stuff. You'd never know it by lookin' at me, I could be your best friend and you would NEVER know, so take your crappy elitist attitude and jump in a lake.

There are more important things to worry about than pot being legal. Revenue wouldn't be used to pay off debt or lower other taxes or anything like that. It'll go to fund personal projects and corporations like most of it does now. Plus a nice raise for themselves.

Gosh, Gerry, maybe you should move to a smarter nation. Or run for office, so we can all benefit from your brilliance. Point of fact: William Randolph Hurst is the reason pot is classified as a drug. He didn't want hemp growers to compete with his paper mill fortune.

@ DingDingDong - yes it used to be easy to get a medical marijuana card in california. Still is...to get the card. Getting it filled is another matter. The state and Feds have been shutting down the dispensaries. They cannot be within a mile of a school or a church or a daycare or or or or etc. Licquor stores can be acrossed the street from any of those establishments, but not private member dispensaries that do NOT let the general public in, certainly not children.

so, it's back to buying it illegally.

I'd bet that if someone developed a technology to quickly report someone's THC blood content for a roadside stop there would be more support.

@Gerry1of1 I think (hope) you're wrong about pot never being legal. The tide is already changing. Look at California, last time I was there I was offered a "medical" card, no problem. Soon it will be legal, I think. Altho, it still needs to be changed on the federal level....hmmm maybe you're right. But here is a graph:

Pot will not be legalized because our prison system is mostly Privatised now. The Prison Corporations make far too much money housing non-violent drug offenders. They will never allow it to be legalized. They'll dump money via lobbyists on politicians to keep it illegal.

Welcome to the U.C.A. - United Corporations of America.

Thanks to Ron & Nancy Reagan, the harmless and non addictive substance marijuana is a Class A narcotic.

USA is indeed a stupid, stupid nation. Reality and fact have nothing to do with out justice system or our system of laws and government.

I would love to see marijuana legalized, but some of those facts are quite skewed.

@ pigsnout5 I see what you are getting at.
I think it might means in the top five of 39 states.

So top cash crop in 12, top 3rd in 18, and top 5th in 9. It's just rolling over the previous?
