Yes, because firing a semi-auto rifle with a mouse and keyboard is the same as in real life.

Because we never had killers before the Internet. We all know Hitler was the first I-A-B member.

1439 - Gutenberg invents the press & Europe profits from cheap books & pamphlets. Ideas & stories were spread around easier & the powers that be, blamed this new invention for promoting lewdness, violence & moral decay.

1895 - Louis & Auguste Lumière perfected the Cinématographe, an apparatus that took, printed & projected film. Ideas, news & stories were spread around easier & the powers that be, blamed this new invention for promoting lewdness, violence & moral decay.

Around 1900s - Radio was invented. Suddenly, ideas, news & stories entered people's living rooms & the powers that be, blamed this new invention for promoting lewdness, violence & moral decay.

Around the 40s - TV became big & popular. Ideas, news & stories were spread around easier & the powers that be, blamed this new invention for promoting lewdness, violence & moral decay.

I live in Oslo. Today i went to the court house, and I saw - personally, Breivik give his free testimony on the Utoya killing spree.

Everyone has to have one thing clear: this case is not about Islam. This case is not about the Labour Youth. This case is not about Religion at all. Forget about Fjordman and Gates of Vienna. It's irrelevant. Because Breivik is insane. He is absolutely crazy.

Today I have witnessed, with my own eyes - a soul that is massively filled with nothing but complete absence of light. It is the calm and detailed explanation from a mass murderer who holds the lack of empathy as a main feature. Half the kids was under 18. Some 14. "They had their backs toward me, because they were running away. It was hard to determine their age when i shot them."
This has nothing to do with politics or religion. The Labour Youth was just a random victim of a mad man. This day has been indescribable.

It was the internet's/society's/schools/parents fault. Delete as applicable.

MacGuffin: Do you revisit EVERY post you make on EVERY thread EVERY 10 minutes

... or was it every 5?

What's your point, caller? Someone has opinions on the internet? Yeah, that happens. Get over it.

our prisons are rotten to the core. It is not something I'm proud of, nor is it something you should envy

It isn't something I envy. I believe I made that clear, both in my post below yours and in my wider comments on IAB. My point is that the US prison systems (State and Federal), and the US level of intolerance towards other cultures, is ironically the type of system that Breivik himself would prefer. It is therefore doubly-painful for him to be imprisoned within a system that is enlightened in a way that he hates.

MacGuffin my state wastes far more money than Norway does per capita and you're right our prisons are rotten to the core. It is not something I'm proud of, nor is it something you should envy. For the money we spend I would absolutely choose Norway's system over ours especially considering that they have low recidivism rates.

MacGuffin: "The worst thing about it is, this evil creep is about to spend the rest of his life in just about the most liberal, reformist prison system there is. A hell hole it Texas: that would have been right up his street (in fact, he actually *asked* for the death penalty the other day), but imprisoned amongst an enlightened system? - it'll be pure hell for a right wing Nazi feckwitt like him. :)"

RecycleElf: "no. go back to the fox news channel."

I'm sorry, but are you actually implying I have right wing views with your comment about "fox news" above? Because if so I'm going to have to conclude that you're one of those idiots that exist on both sides of the political spectrum, who read one sentence of what a person has said and assumes they know what the rest will say, and invite you to read what I *actually* said above again (or, in your case, read it for the first time).

I wonder what contributed more - that he played CoD, or that he was able to legally buy the guns he used in his attack?

That's a shoddy theory they're working with.

If gaming is to blame you would see a multitude of people launching pudgy birds out of slingshots at fat little piggies in precariously designed fortresses.

Please. I hate that the media blames video games and blah blah blah. Yes there are violent video games. Yes people play them, BUT they do NOT make people aggressive or kill people. Now...people who are drawn to killing and the like are drawn to those type of games, but they were messed up WAAAAAAAAAY before playing said games. *shakes head*

Video games don't make killers. Psychos and extremists make killers. Video games also do not make psychos or extremists. However, religion makes both of these.
