I hope that cop has to watch his wife and children get fatally shot.

MacGuffin: "colonist" could also mean someone that talks out of their arse, or colon.

No it couldn't, except from your bent mentality.

MacGuffin: Your right, but our police don't take bribes from the media for "Scoops" either.

If you listen to the video the whole incident happens in roughly 4 seconds. at around the :13 mark in the video. At the 9:10 mark the cop explains to another cop what happened. The accounts are so drastically different it's sickening. From what I hear in the video
":14 Cop: show me your hands
:15 Cop: show me your hands
:16 cop: hey get your dog
:17 Shot fired."
What the cop tells his boss happened "the guy comes out from behind the tree, I tell him show me your hands, I'm walking up on him and telling him walk closer to me, I'm walking towards him, out of no where the dog (inaudible) The dog was coming at me, I back up behind, towards the back of the truck, the dog jumps at me i shot"

Very different.
It's sad the cop will get away with it though.

Well, dang, the dog was blue! If that's not the spawn of the Devil, I don't know what is.

Wow. Police officer trespasses. Dog gets shot. Owner Blamed.

I can see the logic in that.

Now that we've got my pun fully explained to the point of tedium, do you have any relevant views on the fact this scumbag of a US police officer shot this US citizen's dog, then blamed him for it? Or is it only pedantry you're interested in?

Explain the (sic) as used in your word play.

It's a simple question really.

I used "sic" to highlight that I was quoting the word "colonist" that Crakr used, and not the similar (and, co-incidentally, more correct) word "colonialist" that I used by contrast. "Colonist" was incorrect because America is not actually a colony any longer; it is a country established by the colonial ambitions of other nations that are no longer involved. More importantly, though, I used "(sic)" to indicate that directly-quoted word is the specific word I was making a word pun on, which is that "colonist" could also mean someone that talks out of their arse, or colon.

It's a simple concept really, that I did explain in shorter form before.

2003 Home Office Report on police corruption in England and Wales

A case involving police in Southern Wales<<<

1) Case was thrown out before it even came to court.

2) Is a document recommending proactive measures to avoid police corruption. Note: it is does not allege that police corruption is a significant unaddressed problem.

3) Yep, I agree, this was a pretty bad case. And the worst thing is the police officers got away with their actions. Well done for at least going and finding out whether something you believe to be true, is actually true. I wish others would follow your example, and learn how to argue intelligently for what they believe.

Not really, in theory using the internet in the US is illegal fortunately in practice it isn't though. What I really should mention though is that our CFR is ten of thousands of pages long, and enforced arbitrarily.

MacGuffin: And you believe YOU live in a 'free country'? The UK is the most 'Big Brother' of all the European countries m'dear.

Actually, you're right about something for once - the UK is probably the least 'free' country in the EU. We imprison more people per capita than all of our EU contemporaries on the European mainland, except Poland, and we were stupid enough to get involved in Iraq when many of our EU partners were wise enough to stay out, or terminate their involvement far earlier than we did when it became obvious it had been a fools' errand. The US is a model of how we could become, if we're not careful.

None of the above makes the way the US police regularly behave any more acceptable, however. And our police still don't shoot people's pets, or commit murder then cover it up for seven years before finally getting caught.

Oh and laws criminalizing narcotics are also a source of corruption.

I live in this area and this has been on the news for days. Whereas a kid getting shot gets a 10 second mention. It is a mistake, it is a bummer, but it was a dog. Get over it.

My job requires me to enter other people's property on a daily basis, and I've been bitten twice by dogs that don't bite. Been charged at by countless more. I'm not going to defend this guy, because honestly I wasn't there and its not worth the hate, but in my lifetime I've found few things scarier then watching Fluffy's snarling maw coming at you with that tunnel vision that they get. Talk to any dog trainer or expert, and they'll tell you that "my dog won't bite" is the biggest joke there is.

MacGuffin you pretend to be so intelligent and yet you can't get the basic gist of a question?
The 'nonpoint' I asked you, quite simply I might add, was why "if it was a play on words, why add the (sic)?"
If you need a further refresher it was because you made fun of Crakr for using the word 'colonist' because you assumed it wasn't real. Your exact quote: "Do you mean "colonists" (sic) as in people who talk out of their arse? Yeah, I do look down on them. Or did you actually mean 'Colonialists'?" Then when called out you stated:"Actually, it was a play on words, and Native Americans *would* consider you to be colonialists rather than descendents of Colonists, but never mind." then you pulled the "My goodness, Smutley, you went to all that trouble to cut and paste from a dictionary, just to make a non-point?" So then I asked:"If it's such a "non-point" then why don't you explain why you did it?"

I believe I already did. If you put as much effort into criticising the many, many abuses of your police, government, military and prisons as you do in trying to find non-existing faults in statements made by people on the internet, maybe you'd live in a country that was actually free, rather than in one that talks about freedom a lot but never seems to actually practice it, as this video clearly shows.

P.S. We all know you are the queen of the thesaurus and dictionary copy and paste. We have seen you in action plenty of times.

I know for a fact I've never copied and pasted from a dictionary on here. Can you find even a single example of me doing so?

Something tells me you'll be as able to do that as eddy666 was able to find all the examples of police corruption in the UK on the same level as police corruption in the US that he alleged existed (but mysteriously was never able to provide examples of from reliable sources).

I heard the dog was slamming the cop's head on the concrete sidewalk after dropping his bag of skittles. Totally justified.

"can i ask how the DRAT did that happen? you POINT at what you want on your sandwich and you WATCH them make it :|... "

He's mocking whomever it was who said the same thing about cops.

I don't like cops either. I doubt the majority of americans like cops. That said, calling for someone's execution or even firing a cop over this incident is a bit silly. I love my dog almost as much as I've ever loved any woman. That said, it's still just a dog. Yes it would suck ridiculously if some cop shows up out of nowhere and shoots her, but she is a pit bull, and if she were barking while charging at me, I'd consider shooting her myself based on her breed if I didn't know her. I'd still expect copious amounts of money for the mental distress, but I wouldn't call the cops life into question over it.
