I rarely play video games but I enjoy them once in a while. I've always said one of the best ways to get to know someone and break the ice on a date is to play video games.
It's a great way to get a feel for the other person when you're in stressful and challenging situations. It's just a thrill! You learn so much about the other person. How they react to problems, how well they work with other people, etc. |

know why else it would work? same reason as if you met a girl at a concert or at a baseball game, you have a common interest.
This is probably the main reason.
You can make really good friends through gaming though. Last year my TF2 gaming community had a meetup. Most of the people I had never met before IRL but we were all so immediately comfortable with each other it was as if we'd known each other for years (which I suppose we really have). |

I agree. Coffee with a nerd girl is a snoozefest and about as bland as you can be without being in a generic move. Taking on a raid in WoW or beating noobs in SFxT co-op is far more intense. |

I can believe it. I used to play WoW for several years and I made many friends along the way. Some I have met in person, others I haven't. But I have seen plenty of couples playing together. In fact one of the reason I played for so long was because it was the only way for me and my sister to stay in contact. She is now dating and living with a guy that she met playing games online and they are very happy together. |

I disagree completely. Many of the people that I played WoW with and now play SWToR with are married, but their significant other does not play the game. It's easily 75% of the people that I've played with that fall into that category. |

I met 2 people on a game at approximately the same time as they met each other on the game. They're engaged and spend months at a time staying with each other now (but they're still citizens of different countries, at least until they're out of uni and can afford to move somewhere together). It's really cute :D |

Ok, just wanted to say this is really skewed data. The WoW gamers that likely were a large part of the surveys were definitely lying about their relationship status. People who play this game live their whole lie in a fantasy world and almost every gamer you see claims to be dating someone.
That being said.. I met my girlfriend playing a video game and we've been together for 4 years..
However, I'm not stupid enough to believe that 85.1% percent of the gamers I've encountered are in a relationship. It's definitely closer to the other way around completely. I have the social ability to be in a relationship. 85.1% of WoW players have the social ability of cattle. |

Wait, you really surveyed WoW players? How many of them did you survey? What age category? Which server? Or did you -actually- survey all 12 million? (lol) Even if you did survey all 12 million, I guarantee you many of them lied about their relationship status. |

Been living with the love of my life for 4 years now. Met in Warmaul Hill in Nagrand (a place in WoW for those non-WoW people). I'd say we're a pretty happy WoW-dating success story :D |
