Actually Kirk Cameron wasn't "a nice guy", My dad drove truck for a company that delivered set items for tv/movies, and occasionally got to see the actors. He said Kirk was the the whiniest snot nosed spoiled bitches he'd ever met.

and so as you can see my logical point completely exposes what a total load of crap your statement is...

@jamie you need to look up the concept of "self-inflicted irony" ok?

Also: If YOU say it's wrong, it's a 99% chance of being right.(or 'correct' I know you're hung-up on the 'r' word)

Not sure if anyone noticed, but, this was a comedy bit. It was posted on this place called "Funny or Die". Where people try to be funny. Comedy is a powerful tool, and, in this case, seems to me to only be pointing a hypocrisy in Mr. Cameron's world view: no gays have ever personally hurt him, yet, here his is stating that they (gays) are undermining society's very foundation. The hypocrisy is obvious to any thinking person (for starters, I reckon advanced society's been around for several thousand years and, probably since the second generation, folks have been saying, "Kids these days! What with their short skirts and loud music!"). I don't imagine anything's being undermined by anyone. And, IMHO, that's all this clip was trying to point out. No body trying to get an extra 15 minutes, no one vying for your money, just a funny clip on a comedy website (unlike Mr. Cameron, who spews his poo on supposedly legitimate news shows).

umm it didn't go anywhere...Greece and her descendents still exist and ancient Greece, which by the way was desotryed for the most part by ROME, which is not the same as self-implosion, gave birth to the modern concept of Democracy before being sacked.

as you are under thirty I don't fault you for not knowing this since today's school only prepare you for the all important job of making my fries.

Did they really bring up the Greek/Roman society argument? Ummm... and where is that society now? Oh yeah, it imploded. Just saying, not the best argument.

5Cats (again ... sorry!) - in my experience, I find that BOTH left & right tend to do their best to ridicule, discount and outright ignore the arguments of the opposing side, and both will tend to come out of the arguement believing their original stance is even more right (correct) than when they started - everyone wants to prove the other side is wrong without allowing that they might be a bit off themselves. Such is the human condition ... ^_^

What the heck, people. It says Funny or Die right on it. This was a gag produced by a comedy website that probably approached these guys and others to make a parody video thing. You're acting like it's a real organization.

It's a joke. Remember those?

@artmonki: Fair point & well said, I apologise to you. It's been my experience, both irl and at IAB, that the lefties want to silence all opposing voices, while the righties listen to both sides, then make up their own minds.
Not 100% of course! But more often than not.

People can speak their minds. And people can speak their minds about people speaking their minds. And people can speak their minds about people speaking their minds about people speaking their minds. And so on, and so on,...

5Cats - did I say anyone was trying to deny them that right? I only tried to point out the hypocrisy of several comments stating that Kirk has the right to say what he wants (which you might not have noticed I also defended), which seemed to disregard the fact that these guys are just excercising that same right. Maybe 'redundancy' would've been a better term than "hypocrisy", but "hypocrisy" is a prettier sound. ;P

And don't assume I'm some bleeding-heart lefty either - although I do think the left tend to get closer to making sense a lot of the time, all too often they take what started as a good idea and run too far with it, and end up every bit as blinkered and judgemental as the right. I'm just as happy calling left-wing hypocrisy as I am right-wing ... it just doesn't come up as often on this site. ^_^

Caligula wasn't Greek

Thank you @TheShgn2! For poiting that out! He was Roman, dammit!

Aw, you poor blinkered LEFT-wingers - you don't even see your own hypocrisy.

fify @artmunki!
See: not one "right winger' is denying these people their right to speak. View the "Greek Yogurt" thread for more "left wing tolerance" ok?

Aw, you poor blinkered right-wingers - you don't even see your own hypocrisy.

The right to freedom of speech is recognised in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (not just the US constitution), and in its most basic form protects the people's right to say what they want to say without fear of interference. And that's as it should be - no-one's trying to stop Kirk from spouting his (apparently narrow-minded and bigotted) opinions.

But you have to bear in mind that this applies to *everyone*, not just people you agree with. These other hapless has-beens have just the same right as him to speak their minds, and by making his opinions public Kirk opens himself to public response. You can't shout about freedom of speech to protect *your* right to an opinion, and then try to deny that same right to someone else just because you don't agree with them. That's kinda the whole point!

Kirk Cameron has the right to say whatever he likes, but when he talks stupid, bigoted poo, as he so often does, everyone else has a right to call him out on it. Way to go, CCOCK!

so why isn't kirk cameron entitled to his own morals, views, and opinions?

though he said it better himself,
“I should be able to express moral views on social issues — without being slandered, accused of hate speech, and told from those who preach 'tolerance' that I need to either bend my beliefs to their moral standards or be silent when I’m in the public square.”

Well, first, I an no intelligent person lumps all child actors into a single group such that Mr. Cameron would be seen as the spokesperson. So a united group against him is fine but, who are most of you.

Second, even though I think Mr. Cameron is a blithering idiot with no debate skills or sense of rational judgement, was this message made to turn some people's ideas around? Or was it just an attempt for these people to try and get 15 more minutes? I think we all know the answer to that.

But no, it's not about the publicity, it's about making fun of Kirk Cameron

It sounds like he's a douche, for sure. Tbh, though, I don't think anyone really takes those who still voice outdated gay stereotypes or views critical of gay people that seriously any more. It's on the same level as saying women shouldn't have the right to vote: sure, a minority of people probably believe in the concept, but not enough to warrant any meaningful response.

@Gerry. It also means other people get to make fun of him for what he said.
