But truely, that's how many of us view "gay DNA" which you wholey support iirc...

You really make it all up as you go along, don't you, 5Cats? Is the world just one big jumble of things you imagined people said, interspersed with your rabid fantasies, magical thinking and distorted set of "facts" that you've misremembered from late night documentaries you've apparently seen?

Also, just for the feck of it, I think you mean 'truly' and 'wholly', and not "truely" and "wholey" - don't you?

Hey @MacGuffin: I think @dm2754 is pointing out that his "sexual orientation" was pre-ordained at conceptioon, just like gays! And that laws should be changed to recognize this! After all, it's not his choice to prey on little girls, it's in his DNA!
/sarc!

But truely, that's how many of us view "gay DNA" which you wholey support iirc...

First the polyamorous
Then the pedophiles
Then the zoophiles
Then the incest-o-philes...

Soon EVERYONE will be free to love as they please!

@5cats: Zimmerman was arrested. He was not detained, i.e. he was not held in jail on a significant bond whilst a meaningful investigation was carried out, as is happening to the alleged perpetrator in this present case. Rather, his own version of events was accepted without question, and he was let go within a few hours, without an investigation, and without a trial. That's the difference between these separate cases.

Sanford Police should, at the very least, have detained Zimmerman whilst they canvassed the area, spoke to potential witnesses (such as the girl Trayvon Martin was on the phone to, and the many neighbours that have since come forward to contradict Zimmerman's version of events). Not to mention the fact that in Zimmerman's own call to police he admits he was following Trayvon, so how he could later rely on "standing his ground" as a defence should immediately have been questioned and led to detention and investigation.

Would I suffer any crisis of conscience if this girl was my daughter and this pedophile showed any interest in her, and I henceforth "dealt" with him "directly" ?? No, not a bit. While I am sure the courts would eventually deal with such a person as this pedophile in a reasonably effective way, I am a real believer in "damage prevention".

My hero. No really. You impressive. Me impressed. Girl safe. Good.

@MacGufflin: But Zimmerman WAS detained, we saw the film, twice! Based on the law, he was released. You know, "law" that thing the police are supposed to follow? Not 'emotion' not 'race' not 'popularity' but LAW?

In this case the LAW clearly says he was this close *fingers scarsely apart* to breaking it but didn't. Until this other woman came forward with a complaint, then it's a different situation!

In Canada it's 16, unless you're in a position of athority, then 18. There's a "4 year window" I think, but could be mistaken. ie: if you turn 16, but your g/f b/f is still 15, you don't 'go directly to jail' like some States still do.

It's not just Americans supporting Zimmerman, as 5 cats can prove. The US has a population of around 300 million, the UK around 60 million. Of course you're going to hear a lot of support for each side, there's a lot of people that live here, some much more vocal than others.

I still think that this teacher guy is sick and I hope he gets some jail time, I'd be surprised if there aren't more girls he's molested, consensually or not.

James Hooker would have been around about the same age as Zimmerman when this alleged crime would have been committed. The fact that he can be arrested and detained and face a trial and jail time for having consensual sex with a 17-year-old (admittedly, a minor by US's definition), but that a person who shoots and kills a 17-year-old isn't detained, isn't prosecuted, wont serve any time, and is actively and vocally supported by a lot of Americans in what he's done, just appals me.

@MacGuffin, the age of consent in America is 18, and in some states 17 if the age difference is two years or less.

This is a completely separate matter from the Trayvon Martin case.

The age of consent in the UK is 16 (18 if you're a teacher with authority over the young person involved as this man was). Frankly, though, it's not the ages of the alleged victims that amazes me; I'm just astounded at the contrast between the police responses to the two alleged crimes that have taken place in those two separate cases.

@MacGuffin -eat crap

Yeah, that's kind of what we thought was going on in your heads. Thanks for providing a quintessential example of a typical American reaction to someone pointing out your society's rampant hypocrisy.

Ah, America: the country where you can get arrested and held in jail on suspicion of having consensual sex with a 17-year-old, but you can't be arrested and held for shooting one to death outside their own home. How the rest of the world wonders what the hell goes on in your heads.

proving yet again that the fate of a relationship is determined by how it started.
