I hate people who use those retractable leashes, it's so lazy and improper. You're supposed to hold the end of the leash with one hand and the other so that the child always stays at your side. |

I sure hope this is the extent of the stupidity, but I worry if you are willing to go out in public like this, how do you treat your child at home? Also, the logical extension of the argument that a ban on ice cream at a playground means I am a bad parent who can't tell my child "no" is that we should legalize all drugs for everyone. If you can't tell your kid "no" then it's your own damn fault they got hooked on the heroin sold at the playground. |

I never used a child leash but I'm not totally against them. There might be a brief period when the child can walk but has still not grasped that trying to catch the shiny speeding fire-truck is not a good idea. And those sweaty little hands can pull away fast.
But a dog leash around the neck? On a bike? |

I should also add that, once they reach an age where they understand their environment better and can be safer, then the leashes just look stupid. ie. having a three year old in one. |
