I knew this was Russia v Brazil the first time I saw the photo. Looking closely, though, it says "CCCP" on those Russian girls' shirts. Russia hasn't been known as that for over twenty years, since the Berlin Wall came down. Just how old is this photo? And how old are those women by now!? :o

Long sleeves and shorts are permitted now as well, in deference to some of the more modest cultures that will be competing in the Olympics (and the bloody cold wind that blows through Horse Guards Parade in London, where it'll be held). To be perfectly honest, though, I think that most women that have the body for it enjoy a certain amount of attention, within a limited, restricted arena that they can control, such as in a spectacle like a beach volleyball game. I know I enjoy attracting the right type of male (and occasionally female!) attention, when and where I choose. |

I'll add one, bomb tom: it's a free country, dress how you want. But when micro bikinis are part of the standard costume for beach volleyball, I just don't think it does anything for its credibility. 90% of its viewers are male, for one reason only - and it ain't sports. |

I read that the Olympic Beach Volleyball competitions no longer require the skimpy bikinis and that they are allowed to wear more clothing. |
