Tuesday, April 03, 2012 10:22:01 PM i think the suv actually ran into the the truck. that load is secure and it has oversize flags on it to show that it is sticking out beyond the trailer. not paying attention, driving too fast = dead. people treat driving like sitting on the couch...nothing they need to pay much attention to...well until 2 tons of lumber change your day. |

Tuesday, April 03, 2012 8:07:43 PM Blue tarp = dead bodies. We have bigger logs (a few are left) around here and not long ago a couple rolled off a rig to the side as it took a turn on the highway, crushing a car. |

Tuesday, April 03, 2012 6:31:22 PM @dognose82: Ooo! Bad way to go indeed! Here in Winnipeg, a fellow was driving when a 10' lenth of pipe flew off the truck in front of him: through the windshield, through HIM, through his seat, into the back seat. When the fireman pulled out the "diamond hacksaw" to cut him loose, he was amazed at how fast it cut through the pipe! He was OK! Relatively speaking. Nasty scar. And that piece of pipe that went into him? He got to keep it. |

Tuesday, April 03, 2012 5:33:16 PM Granted it was a very long time ago, but my dad had nightmares for years from the reverse of this. As a rookie on a small town police department he was called to an accident scene in which a truckdriver hauling 2" pipes had to slam on his breaks. The load busted loose and a dozen or so pipes smashed through the truck cab and came out the windshield. Of course, lots of pieces of truck driver came with them. Bad way to go. |

Tuesday, April 03, 2012 3:46:48 PM Police think the guy driving may have fallen asleep or had a medical condition - more info in the link. What saddens me is he was driving a Toyota, and the ad at the beginning of the vid is for Toyota Savannah - tasteful? And yes, he did dieMan crashes into log truck |

Tuesday, April 03, 2012 3:09:45 PM A lot of people are blaming texting as the culprit but the truth of the matter is that it could have been any kind of distracted driving including fiddling with the radio, eating, lighting a cigarette, putting on makeup, etc. At first, I thought it was someone following too close but now that I've had a second look at the picture, I've noticed that there are no skid marks which generally means no attempt at a panic stop. Bottom line, bad driver + distracted driving = sudden death (if you're lucky) And by the way, I know that some people use humour to deal with emotions but seriously, show a little respect. That's somebody's family sitting in that car. |

Tuesday, April 03, 2012 1:49:38 PM I'm tossing my vote in for texting while driving. From this angle the brake lights look very visible. |

Tuesday, April 03, 2012 12:51:39 PM If people actually feared this, they wouldn't tailgate log trucks. |

Tuesday, April 03, 2012 12:20:52 PM Quite sad. Driver definitely died. Not from driving too close (there wouldn't be that much force involved). Driver just didn't see that the truck was stopped at the light; maybe because the logs were covering the truck's brake lights. In that case truck driver takes some blame. Those log trucks shouldn't be allowed to load like that, they need adequate bumpers to prevent this from happening. I feel bad for the semi driver too, a dumbass dies on the back of his truck because he didn't load it properly. |
