I'm not sure about this. There are some google references prior to April 1st, but only just. Wiki is unhelpful, except to say that Thousand Year Eggs were not soaked in horse urine, they just smelled that way.
On the other hand people pay good money for coffee that's been shat by a cat, so maybe. |

I can understand eating bugs, rats, snakes and the like. But eating eggs should be simple. Boil and eat. Soak them and boil them in virgin boy's urine and somehow they're magical? I'd rather eat tripe! |
