An explosion in a print factory would not produce a dictionary. That's true. Nor would a hurricane in a scrap-yard produce a 747, a commoner analogy.
But evolution works through random mutation and natural selection. Either this guy does not know this and he is, at best, ignorant or he does know it and is being dishonest. We have established that he has a sound career in medicine, so dishonest is looking likely. |

I agree with you completely, but I think I was misunderstood. It's obvious from these comments that people hear this speaker and quickly dismiss him as an idiot. Clearly, a cardio-thoracic surgeon as decorated as him is not an idiot. I didn't mean to imply that the sciences are interchangeable, only that he is not ignorant of them. |

As a guy who works in a printers i'm accustomed to causing massive explosions, and granted no dictionaries have come about from this. But having said that I haven't worked in the printers for 14 billion years I'm not going to dismiss the chances of me creating a walking, talking, thinking dictionary if I had the time.x |

I don't know, with things like cancer and auto-immune diseases, it seems to me that if an all-powerful divine being designed the human body, he really didn't give it his all. But then, it was his last day before his vacation. |

would you let an astronomer or a physicist operate on you? The sciences aren't interchangeable and a doctor doesn't necessarily know more than a plumber on this subject. |

All of those realizations are simply a higher level of survival instincts. Animal families protect each other so are they religious or do they recognize that it's to their own best interest to protect their numbers? |

an explosion in a print shop could produce a book if, over millions and millions of years, the groups of letters that don't form words are thrown away (die out). The main thing creationists can't understand is the power of millions and millions of years. All their arguments are only valid if there is too little time for something complicated to happen. |

He was not trying to convert you to his way of thinking, he is preaching to other Mormons on what they believe.
You don't have to agree with everything and other people don't have to agree with you.

This doesn't bother me, it is sad, but what he says in church is his business.
What does bother me is that EVERY Republican presidential candidate says they do not believe in evolution. If you cannot accept 100 years of science as fact, and if you do not have the balls to tell your conservative base they are wrong on an issue, how can we expect you to make good decisions as our president. |
