Monday, April 02, 2012 10:25:06 AM Mon360, most athiests believe that there is no evidence for a god, so there is no reason to believe in one. There is evidence for thigs like gravity and evolution that has held up to the rigors of the scientific community, so we are more comfortable believing in those things. Wowummwow, religion is decreasing in developed nations and rising in 3rd world countries. The more educated you are the less likely you are to be religious, in general. |

Sunday, April 01, 2012 9:21:58 PM Interesting, there was an anti-religious slant against those who throw away science in favor of religion where religion may be easier for people to accept. "Let the religious morons grab at their straws." - Don't worry they will... and somehow their numbers have grown in the past few decades. |

Saturday, March 31, 2012 9:43:14 PM How do atheists know what's what? In our existence, nothing is established so that makes every argument null and void. |

Saturday, March 31, 2012 5:07:12 PM @Angilion Yes, but the mistake lies in scientific thinking when fact is confused with truth. Fact and truth are two separate elements. Even though scientific fact is perhaps closer to the truth than blind faith, fact can still be refuted. When we close ourselves off to other possibilities with our scientific fact, we do no better than the religious at finding the truth. |

Saturday, March 31, 2012 3:33:28 PM You can't tell me believing that rendition of the creation of Earth takes any less faith than religious ones. No one was there, yet when you throw around numbers like "oh, billions and billions of years ago" you can pass it off as fact when really, you have no freaking idea. I haven't watched this video so I don't know if it's science or religion, but if you're arguing that science is the same as religion, you're an ignorant fool or a liar. Or, of course, both. The basis of science is "given the available evidence, this explanation of how something happens is the most likely", with varying degrees of likelihood depending on the extent and reliability of the evidence. Nobody with a shred of reason could mistake that for the basis of religion - "You must believe this is how something happens and treat it as absolute truth, regardless of any evidence, because I say so." |

Saturday, March 31, 2012 7:52:32 AM The wonderful thing, FoSchizle, is that science admits when it doesn't know something (with obvious exception of dishonest scientists, which, admittedly, do exist--fortunately, they're often found out). Science says, this is our theory, based on this, this and that. "This" and "this" are verifiable, reproducible in the laboratory and, as such, considered fact. "That" might still be a theory, but, we believe it'll be bourne out with more sensitive instruments, better experiments, etc. Science admits to many questions, and is actively trying to find the answers. Religion claims the answers, and resists the questions. Both are fine, I guess. And, you're absolutely right, both require faith. It all depends upon which philosophy you want to hang your upon. On a foundation of reproducible, observable fact, or, on a foundation of long-believed and powerful mythology. |

Saturday, March 31, 2012 7:51:18 AM The science is interesting, but the video turns to rubbish when he starts opining on religion. If we're not to listen to priests when we want to know about science, why on earth would we listen to scientists when we want to know about religion? |

Gotta love how "tolerance" nowadays is really equatable to intolerance towards religion. Still doesn't answer the question where all of it came from. |
